jacquesdubois
I have a question about this Vacumatic. Is the discoloration on the barrel due to celluloid rot? Should I use it or not? It's not been restored, but it has a near barrel and doesn't leak. I've not kept it with the other Vacumatics since I've heard that celluloid rot "catches". It just sits in my desk and I've wondered what to do with it... So– what do I do? Suggestions?

PAKMAN
I'd get it restored, a good polishing and barrel scrub out may do the trick. PAKMAN My Favorite Pen Restorer My Favorite Pen Store Vanness Pens - Selling Online!

Suggestions? My guess is that someone used too hot water when cleaning it.Polishing might help, unless the damage is too deep./T http://parkercollector.com/images/footer.jpg*Pens for sale *Email me *Date codes
jacquesdubois
I got a paper towel and a bit of water, gently rubbed the barrel and the pen cleaned right up. I felt a bit silly, but I was sort of uncertain with the whole celluloid rot issue whether or not the pen was starting to turn. This Vac has a great, semi-flex nib...but the diaphram is shot. I'll be sending it off after I get a couple other pens fixed...
