Josephchow, Pelman, Pelikan Vera, Nokin, Woodnut,Bobaroo and Pterodactylus,

Thanks for all.

Wood nut, have a look at the feed which is

made by my master Ramachandran of Kim and Co pens.

It is very rare to have such problems with this type of feeds. Probably the climate in our part of the world may be helping us.

Sreekumar,

Thank you for this photo of the feed. It is good to see what I believe is an ebonite feed with more and larger "fins" or "vents" to collect and prevent ink from "burping" as the ink travels down the feed and out through the nib. (Or at least that's the theory behind this shape of feed.)

mhguda (above) is observant about her Kim & Company feeds: the one on the Kim I own looks very much like this. The feeds on other Indian ebonite eyedroppers in my collection are much flatter at the bottom, with only a few shallow incisions on their sides; I have yet to determine what effect, if any, this may have on preventing burping. The only way to tell, it seems, is to keep writing, writing, writing with the same pen to see how much ink remains in the reservoir when the pen burps (if it does) -- or my hand seizes up with a terminal cramp . . .

Thank you again, S-K, for your patience and for adding a photo of the feed.

Sreekumar,

Shortly after I filed this post above, I went to do some work on my Kim & Co. pen -- I had been writing with it last night and suddenly found ink on one my index finger where I had been holding the section as it meets the barrel. After unscrewing the section, I emptied the ink from the barrel into a small sample vial. I had been expecting about 1ml. to be there, but to my surprise, there was about 1/10ml. remaining. When I inspected the end of the section, I noted that a short, half-round grooved rod, apparently fashioned from ebonite, was poised above the ink hole at the back of the section. I suspect that this rod functions as a breather tube -- otherwise I find it difficult to explain how I was able to draw down so much in without the pen burping even once. Can you confirm whether this rod is part of Mr. Ramachandran's design of the feed? Do you make your feeds in this fashion?

I own a couple of pens from Sree with those feeds and I can vouch for them: the pens do not burp and do not dry either. Good design and craftmanship.

Nothing wrong with plastic, acrylic and metal pens, but if you really want ebonite, SK above and even asa has a lot of ebonite pens.

There is nothing which i can more to otherwise perfectly done pen....

Only thing i can say is that cap clip silver finish ... can that be black... same for that silver color o ring between section and barrel...

Also my personal choice would be not to see the ring of cap clip.... if cap clip ring is thin.... if the ring is wide enough and black i will love it...

Also what Nib is this...???

Very beautiful FP. The barrel is extremely well shaped - though the cap & section may not be to my liking.

I put my savings to test

Lamy & Pilot FPs the Best

No more I even think of the rest

(Preference Fine and Extra Fine Nibs)

Pen is meant for writing - not for looking :-)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
