Group Buy - Diamine Music Collection

Would anybody be interested in joining me for a group buy of the Diamine Music Collection (and the Flowers set if there is enough interest)?

My initial sums show that it would cost £8.54 plus P&P per person. For your money you would receive 10 x 3ml inks in individual, labelled 5ml vials and one empty bottle from the collection.

FYI

Ink set - £60.00

Pipettes - £0.88

Vials - £24.50

Total £85.38

I need 9 people willing to play to make this viable.

Thank you

Karen

Glad someone has done this. Doing something like this for the FP community is a good feeling.

I have been running the UK Ink Sample Group for the last 10 months (Just a couple of months left before the year is over)

Just a couple of thoughts based on what I learned running the scheme..... (I am no expert though!)

It might be an idea to open it to more people if you can as it will reduce the overall costs.

15 people would still get 2ml and reduce the overall costs. 20 people would get 1.5ml (at least 2 fills of most pens)

I think you might be able to keep your costs down if you did a Music/Flower combo.

My reasoning....

If you have 20 people, with 20 vial each, that is 400 vials. When I was ordering vials, I ordered from a medical supplies company and got 1500 vials for about £110, which works out around £37 per 500.

As for postage, within the UK, you should be able to send 10 vials for a 2nd class large stamp (69p), jiffy bags can be bought cheaply and in bulk from Ebay, although you may only need 10-20, where I needed 200+ (19 packages a month for 12 months)

Just some thoughts....

Fantastic Marie.

Renfield thank you for your very helpful suggestions. I've suggested 10 participants in order to allow the sharing of the bottles too. I will look into bulk buying vials and see if I can get the cost down a bit though, thank you.

I love the good old hand written letter.

If its a double whammy with Flower/Music, you will have 20 bottles for 20 people :)

how would you accommodate for international postage for those not located in UK??

I would charge postage at cost. If you are interested I can investigate how much it would be to ship to you?

You may want to get in touch with fionafish who recently coordinated an ink buy for the Akkerman inks. She was shipping to both the US and the UK and can probably give you an estimate of the shipping costs.

Current Wishlist:

Visconti, Visconti, and...more Visconti! (And some ST Duponts too). (Ok fine, getting on the Omas and Montblanc trains now too. Toot toot.) (And maybe on the Montegrappa one too, but only for the Miyas.)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
