Question - Lamy Turquoise Vs Pelikan 4001 Turquoise?

Hi Everybody! Hi doctor Nick!

 

I recently found out that LOVE turquoise as an ink color!

 

I was looking at these two brands specifically and can't seem to fine any review of the two from the same person (I can't tell from different people as scanning methods and setting change)

I was going to have this ink as a sort-or companion ink to use instead of my Noodler's Eel Turquoise if It works better in a different pen- okay...maybe I just want a different turquoise...too

 

Has anyone here tried both and could tell me (or pics ...jk...) how they look and there writing characteristics? (wetness...smoothness?)

I suppose drying time because I'm left handed...but then again...all inks seem to dry slow in the sketchbook

 

If this matters at all-

The pens I will use this in are

Parker Vector - Fine

Parker Frontier - Medium (a dry writer from what I have read?)

Pilot Metropolitan - Medium

edit : I draw a LOT ... and I tend to use this as a sketching color to be inked over...but It's a good writing color too! (I've been using ballpoints...may I burn)

 

and I use walmart linedpaper...but the made in mexico kind seems to be a bit FP friendly so very little worry there- teehee

I got my bottle of Lamy Turquoise after I used up my Pelikan Turquoise so I never did a direct comparison but I find the two inks to be very similar. As I recall, Pelikan was slightly drier than Lamy.

 

Hopefully someone with both inks will chime in on their characteristics.

There are a lot of similar inks in this family. I personally did the Sheaffer vs Lamy investigations (I neglected to post a comparison). I found them so close it was difficult to tell a difference. The Sheaffer seemed a little more wet, and the Lamy a tiny bit more viscous and smoother. The Sheaffer had a tiny bit more shading I think. I did not have any Tomoe River paper at the time, but I think the Sheaffer may have been more likely to give a bit of sheen on there. (just speculating at this point)

 

I ended up with the Lamy just because the feel of writing with it was almost unnoticeably smoother. Now of course I'm eyeballing the Sheaffer again, to get the extra shading and to see if there's sheen on Tomoe River paper.

Have you considered the latest Montblanc turquoise colour ink? Balzac Dandy Turquoise? It's a really bright turquoise colour.

I have Lamy Turquoise, Pelikan 4001 Turquoise, and Waterman South Sea Blue. They are similar colors, the Lamy is the lightest of the three., with the Pelikan and Waterman being a bit darker and the Waterman is the wettest of the three. I can easily recommend all three inks.

Would you call the Lamy to be to funnest/more vibrant color of the 3?

I was going to avoid waterman due to the fact that school paper it like sponge...

-I do through ink like a fountain so I wanted to keep it on the low end...and I don't know how it would react on some papers

looks interesting, I'll see if I can look around for (bleep) paer comparisons (which is why I chose the other 2)

I'm still stuck on those two...hmm

 

I guess I could chose the Lamy (because of the bottle more or less-)
