Yesterday I acquired a black 475 which I have since cleaned and serviced. There are a lot of these in NZ, and many of them have passed through my hands! Every one I have had has been a great writer. This one came with an added bonus, a silver Life-Long pencil made by W H Sutton and apparently marketed by Conway Stewart from 1933.

Very handsome 475...looks to have kept it's colour really well...and a bonus Life-long. What's not to like?

Hello

 

I always bring one of my Conway Stewart 100s

Specially Conway Stewart 100 Lapis Lazuli is my favorate

 

Aside from its beautiful blue and golden decoration by Henry Simpole

It was made during the last moment of CSs days in 2014.

 

For me, it is the very special pen to remember Thomas pen and the last days of Conway Stewart

I'm currently using my modern Conway Stewart 100. Not sure if the colour is Classic Brown - I think that is what they called it. Beautiful looking fountain pen with a medium conway stewart nib. :) :) :)

I've been using my Conway Stewart 55 for a few weeks now. It was a pen I had intended on restoring and selling, but decided to keep it. One of these days, I'll need to add a cracked ice to my little collection.

Is your 55 celluloid or hard rubber? My BHR one is definitely on my "never sell" list. There's just something about it...

The design is pre-war "classic British pen", but they were post-war production, as far as I can tell. The 55 replaced the 45 which was a wartime version with only one band.

Mine is celluloid, and has the narrow-wide-narrow cap bands.

Took my New Post Pen c. 1910? along to the Geeks meeting on Saturday and it got a little use. Looking at the nib and feed I think the nib has been replaced at some point.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..
