Reading through this thread I've come to the conclusion that it was an April fool's joke played at the wrong time of year. I won't be waiting for the non-existent recipe.

Big thanks, Prvt. Toter for this excellent recommendation! I've been one of the suckers waiting and waiting for the "secret recipe" which I also believe was a hoax (motive???). But I have ordered a bottle of Tsuki Yo and plan to be delighted :)

Guys, maybe something (bleep) up with the ink, and maybe the maker just forgot about the thread? doesn't have to be a hoax.

Agreed, mixing inks is a crazy affair... sometimes strange things happen... Hoping it is not just a tease as it is beautiful and I am a sucker for blue. The Tsuki Yo is a nice ink, pretty well behaved, but requires a decent stub or flex nib to get the shading out of it.

Tsuki-Yo is beautiful. Shades differently. Yama-Guri is closer, but bluer and with that legendary sheen.

This is no hoax. What a silly hoax it would be. I've sent out samples to a couple of folks. And despite the discouraging negativity and bitterness shown towards me here I will be posting my latest recipe as soon as I find it amongst the moving boxes.

Apologies to those who have patiently waited.

Thanks for the updates, going to check out the Yama-Guri based on your comments... my Tsuki Yo is reaching to bottom of the bottle (sad) and will need replaced soon.. heading to the inks section to look at now!.

My apologies! About a year ago (?) I sent a PM to Masque and never received a response. In the absence of any reply to our pleadings lo these many months, I mistakenly came to the wrong conclusion. I'm back to waiting :) :)

Do not worry, I can wait longer :) Please do not be discouraged. Life happens, and with it plans screw up. Take your time :)

As a thought, if further testing is required, many hands make light labor.

Just like when they release the new iphone and thousands of people buy it and then we start hearing rumours that 'it bends in half'. Lol. Six months later they release the new version with hopefully all the bugs worked out.

There are several people on the forum who would love to help you experiment with this ink, if help is still required. An eight headed hydra is better than one.

The praise of the praiseworthy is above all rewards.

Unless you use precise measurements, your mileage may vary. Additionally, no guarantees are made as to the accuracy of this formula. My inks may be younger or older than yours, may be from a different batch, or maybe I'm just really good looking and my inks are trying to impress me.

1x Old Manhattan Blackest Black

Noodler's inks, all three.

Did you ever come up with an official name for the mix?

I suggest a name with a wintery context. The high shading and colors it put out just scream ice-cold to me. Something like "Ice Storm" or "Winters Night" would be very fitting if you ask me.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
