Wow, great work, it looks beautiful!

The consistency of spacing between words could use a small bit of improvement. I really like the embellishments around the outside – color and variety are really wonderful.

The consistency of spacing in between words isn't as important as full text justification in this case, I think. It'd look more improved if he took more liberties in order to make all the text the same width (but he'd have to play with it back and forth, try some blocking out first, etc)

Thanks all! Haven't considered justifying the text, so thanks for that thought -would probably mean it would take me even longer though!

Beautiful! I couldn't help singing along as I read the words. :happyberet:

Aesthetically it looks really beautiful so kudos for that. Love the embellishments, style and colouring. Would much prefer a non-religious text but that's a purely personal thing.

I was taken by the good sense of space both in the writing and the layout of the whole page; neither to scattered or too cramped. Very pleasing, IMO. The text, however, does nothing for me.

Well done.

Sincerely, beak.

I would like to make an additional comment.

Jon, your work shows great love, and care, for the SONG you chose to transcribe.

I, for one, hope to see more of what inspires you.

Thanks all! And thanks GClef - this was actually a present and the recipient's choice, but also a hymn I love too!

Hi GClef,

This is the one on my wall that the person saw and so asked me to do for her. Not a great picture but you'll get the gist. One of my wife's favourite hymns...!

I wish I had your talent to make it all artsy-fartsy like, but this is the best I can do.

That's lovely GClef! Very nice indeed. And believe me, I hardly have any artistic talent. I can copy stuff but it's nothing more that a bit of paint. Very easy to do!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
