I don't understand the relationship of "Space Man" brand. I did a little research and there's an interesting thread here, but of course the eBay auction originally referenced is long gone. However, I found this website in that thread:

http://www.amitynet.jp/index.html/manufacturers_id/38

This one kinda looks like the one in the video:

And combined with this one:

"One always looking for flaws leaves too little time for construction" ...

Although I don't know much about "Space Man" brand, they're the very fountain pens Mr. Kato made. Thanks for your researching and sharing the informative websites to us.

P.S.

Mr. Kato passed away on January 23rd, 2010.

I feel deeply sorry for his loss...

Thank you Kota for creating these videos.

It amazing to see the pen masters at work: the attention to detail and checking the pen from every angle to ensure it is smooth.. i can go on and on..

Thanks a lot for your hearty comment.

Sailor often offers a free service like this in cities across Japan. In this event, customers are allowed to bring "any quantities or brands" for the nib masters to adjust the nib. Mr. Kawaguchi and Mr. Nagahara are famous, has been conducting Pen Clinics across cities in Japan as well as throughout the world. They are the top two respected great legendary pen masters in Sailor.

Wow, they're all rare fountain pens!

In Japan, the pens he made have gone out of stock.

Thank you so much for the valuable link. :)

Thank you so much. I would be more than happy to be of service to you all.

"Daimaru Fujii Central" is a stationery store since 1892 which is a familiar spot to Fountain Pen Lovers in Hokkaido.

I've sen this youtube clip a few times and wow you Japanese know how to give excellent service, something is Australians need to inherit from you.

But I was quite surprised that at the end he choose a Pelikan, I would of thought been Japanese he would of chosen a Japanese pen, I suppose Pelikan fountain pens are quite liked in Japan.

Thank you for your interest in the video, Albinoni. In Japan, many fountain pen users tend to regard Pelikan (or Montblanc) as the best brand of all fountain pen brands idolatrously. But, when it comes to writing, I do personally feel and believe Sailor (or Pilot) a much comfortable writer. :)

This is a really cool thread. I'm very impressed with the fountain pen tradition in japan and I'm just curious are there any women fountain pen masters out there?

Thanks a lot for the comment, Mesu. Really glad to hear that.

In this shop, we Japanese can order our own customized fountain pens in our styles. :)

I know a woman who works for the fountain pen company to adjust nibs as a master. Some women engage in the manufacture of ebonite.

Awesome!

Your videos are always all worth watching for me as I'm interested in Japanese fountain pens very much.

(Esp, I like to use Platinum 3776 / President a lot.)

Looking forward to watching the next chapter enormously,

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
