I'm hoping that Virtu would make the english subtitle for this video...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGTRLEqh-k0

Personally, I hope someone will subtitle the video in English because I'm dead busy with my work and raising baby right now. lol

At any rate, the video you informed me is really magnetic for me. Thanks!

Very good contributions

Thank you very much. I'm glad to be of service. Takuya Okamoto is one of the most famous and skilled leather craftsmen in Japan. He has an amazing ability to make a pen pouch (case) for fountain pens. People from abroad can purchase several types of his pen pouch at KINGDOM NOTE online! ;-)

Just for your information. :vbg:

Hi, zerobuttons. Long time and thanks for the comment over and over again. I'm also eager to go to Present & Correct sometime in the future. As I believe Present & Correct has a good selection of products...I wish I could visit the shop just once.

I don't have a video for it, but here's a link to a wonderfully tasteful stationery shop in Berlin: RSVP. It is just one of many reasons that I wish I lived nearer or traveled more frequently to that city.

Kota,

Thank you so very much for making this available, It was with absolute amazement as I studied these videos.

I was trained in Switzerland and apprenticed under a old French master. He would not teach me anything until I proved myself, worth teaching.

I had to learn humility, respect, patience and my place. Over the years, I spent a lot of time just watching him, listening paying attention to details.

These videos brought me back to my days of being an apprentice. So much of what we do is attitude, surrender to the moment, and be in that moment.

And again thanks for reminding how important the skills of the apprentice are.

Hello Mr. Mark,
Thank you very much for the comment. You must be a skilled craftsman. After reading your comment, I began to think I should upload and share the "special chapter" of this video - Interview with Kiyoshi Kato. In the chapter, he talks about his experiences as a fountain pen craftsman. After I upload the next "coffee-break-video", I'll put Mr. Kato's interview on FPN during the rest of this year. This may be my last post on this topic. ;)
Some of Mr. Kato's works.
Best wishes from Japan,

You're more than welcome. These videos are DVD-based. Incidentally, this is not a commercial-release DVD (not for sale), however, I have two sets for some reason. Even in Japan, we have to go to "National Museum of Japanese History" in Chiba prefecture or "EuroBox" in Tokyo to rent this DVD (for free of charge). If you download each chapter of this video completely from my YouTube channel and burn the DVD, you can see all chapters on TV. ;-)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
