Masters Of The Fountain Pen

I think it is very much an ED filled pen with shutoff valve. at 10:45 he even fills the pen with a bulb fitted to a long nozzle(super capacity eye dropper!)

He lubes the shutoff piston holding shaft, holds the shaft with a plier, screws the knob on to the shaft etc...

Ok, so you're thinking it's like the drawing troglokev did in his Mikata review?

yeah but look at 9:41-9:49, you can clearly see him put something on the end of the rod....

on the other hand, at 10:40, you can kind of see the end of the piston and it doesn't look like it seals the barrel like a piston fill

my guess is you're right -- it's also the most obvious since the video probably isn't wrong

my apologies!

the ED filler with shutoff valve mechanism has two seals. One in the barrel knob end where the shaft enters the barrel and the other at the section. older pens it was simply HR to hr seal, modern pens like Dani trio use a O ring seal here. I think he was putting together the knob end seal, it was quickly edited out in the video.

It is definitely the pen type shown by Troglokev. HTH.

thanks sharing for the vids  :notworthy1: I am very lucky to know a penshop that lets me try the pens I want. Thank again for contributing

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

I think the difference between that store and similar stores (or departments) in America is mainly that department has customers...

There were people at 1:00, 2:47, 3:03, 3:37, 3:43, 3:51, 4:34 and 4:46 wearing face masks. They all seem to be young women except 1. Are they sick themselves or are they paranoid...

I took this video on January 1st, 2013. You know many of the Japanese visit a shrine on a New Year's Day. So people just wear a mask to avoid the flu.

Oh, wow, no I didn't know. THanks for that, and for shooting the video. Of course this means I now have to visit... see what you've done?!?

We Japanese workers are expected to take extra precautions to stay healthy during the flu season. On the other hand, people in Japan seldom wear masks except during the dry winter months. ( As a matter of course, people suffering from hay fever wear masks in the hay-fever season. ) Please take a look at the video below. In fact, nobody wears a mask because I took this video on May 20th.

You guys are super cute together :)

The intrigue over the TSUGE is just too much. I've seen some of your other threads about them, and given my (continuing) obsession with the Sailor Emperor overfeed... I'm interested, to say the least...

Wooow, excellent review, terminal ! Thanks for telling me the nice thread you posted. Of course, I've once collected Sailor enperor series as well. They were all smooth and juicy. I still remember the moment when the nib touched the paper. To say the least of it, Sailor specialty nibs are really fascinating because of their functionalities.

- Master of the order-made notebooks (Kakimori) -

Kakimori is a small stationery shop nestled in Tokyo's Kuramae neighbourhood which has been pleasing customers over the course of three generations. You might find yourself falling in love with the art of writing again after a visit to this specialist stationery shop. Kakimori's range of pens, inks and letter sets are chosen on the basis of how comfortable they are to use, and customers are welcome to try out the fountain pens before making a purchase. Best of all are the order-made notebooks, prepared in 5-10 minutes and with an infinitely customisable selection of covers, paper and bindings available - most of them locally produced, for added "Made in Asakusa" effect.

That's so melancholy. I'm very impressed by him and how he's found a way to keep the business going though.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
