My bottle of Akkerman arrived today. Are you in competition with Goulet for who can overpack? :D

From the inside of the packaging out:

1. You added a strip of tape to the bottle cap to keep it from opening.

2. You poured "peanuts" into the manufacturer's supplied box.

3. You poured "peanuts" all around the box so that no part of it touched the outer box.

4. I dug thru all those "peanuts" and found a free Rhodia note pad.

My order with you was the last I placed over several days before today. It arrived before all the others except for one placed two days earlier with Goulet.

None of the above is a complaint. Now I might have to do a review of my Akkerman Hofvijver Grijs.

Last thing - my Much Better Half wants to know when I will use up all the ink. She wants to use the bottle to put olive oil in - she really likes the bottle. I may have to order another bottle so she can have a matching bottle for vinegar.

Do you have any bottles of Noodler's Rachmaninoff?

Current Wishlist:

Visconti, Visconti, and...more Visconti! (And some ST Duponts too). (Ok fine, getting on the Omas and Montblanc trains now too. Toot toot.) (And maybe on the Montegrappa one too, but only for the Miyas.)

I believe that is the way that Akkerman packs the inks. Mine also came that way and I bought mine from a couple of the group purchases on FPN.

Wow great price and I'm glad you are carrying Akkermans.

I can also vouch for Vanness' fine packing and very prompt shipping (plus they are friendly if you need to email them or talk to them on the phone). I do hope any escalating packaging conflicts can be solved by diplomacy and perhaps UN inspector though. :)

As a general thing about shipping....of things that I've ordered the last 19 packages have arrived in perfect shape. The 20th though (via usps) was really smooshed at one end (though contents where all ok). It was like they maybe used it to prop up a couch that was being shipped cross country or something. :) This package was even a standard usps shipping box, which I thought meant it was easier for them with regularized sizes making it easier for them to stack and transport such things.

Do you ship to the UK? I'd love to invest in some Noodler's!!!

yes we can ship there- you can see our colors on our website- but we would have to check on exact shipping cost.

I find the shipping for ink seems to be very high from the US, I end up having it sent to a friend in the US who then sends it on - and this is considerably cheaper than having sent directly to me!!

Please try to quote a reasonable postage rate.

IN order to better serve you please PM me- with your ink choices- we would need a weight and location to inform of an accurate price.

Thank you

I've seen the back room at Vanness where all the packing and mailing goes on. And forget about just pens and inks, they ship coffee makers, electric shavers, vacuum cleaners and other things that they work on and repair. This is something they've been at for 75 years, so you know they know how to pack. :)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
