Chucks, thought the show was on Saturday which I could not attend anyway. I'll be travelling to the UK on Sunday. If I'd known, I would have travelled on Saturday instead.

Oh well, I'll enjoy my holidays anyway.

See you there!

I'm very much looking forward to this, it being my first pen show.

Hoping to pick up some bits for repair. Frustratingly I really don't have much money this month - reckon I can pay for pens with my prints & cards?

I can answer one of your questions RMehta248 if it is of help. John Sorowka tells me that he intends being at the show, which is good as I have a couple of pens for him to work his magic on :)

Thank heavens for that - I was hoping he'd be there. I've a lovely little Waterman 552 1/2v that has lovely flex, beautiful wetness...and very slightly misaligned tines that I've never been able to fix myself, so it's hella toothy.

See you all tomorrow, unfortunately i will not be there till after lunch, so don't leave.

Please, if you can, make another video for those of us unable to attend. Last year's was grand!

Went today, had a great time, new to Pens and my first pen show, too many nice things, in fact so many it was impossible to take it all in..... :yikes:

Bought a couple of things from Sameh Fahmy and from Mark Catley, and actually did my honest john good deed of the year for Mark Catley as on routing round in his "£5 Empty Boxes" bin, i picked up a Parker Case and when i opened it up i found a Parker 75 Cisele which really wasn't supposed to be in there :headsmack:

Great day and very much enjoyed

Steve

I could only spend the morning at the show as I had to be somewhere else ready for work tomorrow  Still, I managed to see the tables that I needed to and had a couple of pens looked at by Oxonian :)

I was there too. First pen show and a fabulous experience. Met quite a few people I've corresponded with - and bought from. Fabulous people to a man (and woman).

Too many pens; too little writing.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
