The first Unique pens were offered for public sale in the early 1920s these were propietary pens marketed by The Unique Pen Co. located at 50 The Strand London.
By 1924 they were selling a well advertised selection from 60 different models produced in vulcanite material.
In 1933 The Unique Pen Company Limited was registered at 34 Maiden Lane, near the Strand London until the 1939 declaration of War with Germany.
The production factory is believed to have been based in Merton, London SW20, throuughout the War years production was restricted, a quota of only five models were premitted. The Unique Pen Company gradually deminished then ceased production in 1958.

Company - The "UNIQUE" Pen. Co. Ltd. London, United Kingdom.
Model - I dont know
Years of production - I dont know.
This may be a pre-war production of the 30-ies, but it could be the end of the 40's, early 50's. The company worked on the market since the beginning of the twenties until 1958
I bought a used pen the English company in red. After some time, the opportunity arose to buy the pen of the same model in green. Captivated me in these pens celluloid vivid colors and its structure.. The incentive was also the state of feathers, which had even sticker price. One pen was in the very well-preserved box.

Nice, cool, vintage pens. Even now I can not remember the amounts for which they bought, but they were not big money. But we can enjoy the pens, their colors and forced me to look on the net and get some information about the company, its products, years of operation. And I think that is, what this is all about.

I'm not one for glamour pens - but they are seriously good.

Great looking pens !

Since you added a Pelikan for comparison in your photograph, please tell us which size. It looks like

an M400. I wish, secretly, that it is an M1000. Then, your pens would be huge. Good find.

I recall seeing the UNIQUE nib somewhere before. Does anyone recall them on other pens ?

For size comparison, which Pelikan is in the photograph ?

Nice find.

Sorry for the duplication. A Windows update interrupted my post.

Wow. They remind me of Burhams et al., but the clip is very distinctive and you've captured the lovely celluloids quite well. They look like they were made yesterday.

Great looking pens. I also happened to find one for an extremly low price recently, only the one I found had a competitor's nib installed.

Hi. I did something rather stupid and damaged the nib. I then did something even far more stupid and lost the damaged nib without documenting the nib number size. Does anyone have any idea what size nib the unique pens mentioned above were or how I can calculate or measure accordingly to determine the correct nib size I need to order for the replacement.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
