Hello,

I am new to this pen scene & I have in my posession an interesting pen. I'd be much obliged if one of you fine people could help me to identify it. I believe it to be a 1920's model 25, 35, or 45 safety pen with snake clip. I will include photos as well as a bit of an article from Pen World with a picture of what I believe is the same model pen as mine. Unfortunately the picture is small so its not the biggest help to me when it comes to identification.

Unfortunately I don't know much of anything about pens, I'm just getting into it as a hobby after inheriting a few. I have been trying to identify & catalog them for about eight months now and this one always stumps me. That's why I've decided to ask for help finally.

Thank you Kindly,

-MM

Details about my pen:

It is engraved with 2 M on the end, has a snake clip, is a safety pen, nib says 14 carat as well as 2 on it, retracted with cap screwed on its 4 1/2 inches, when nib is extended & cap is on it, its just over 7 1/2 inches, nib extended with no cap it is 5 & 3/4 inches, nib retracted without cap its 4 inches, retracted with cap screwed on its 4 1/2 inches, I believe it to be from the 1920's

I'm pretty sure the number on the end of the barrel is the model number, which mean this is a Montblanc #2m. I must compliment your pen, it is beautiful and defiantly valuable.

Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

This is a beautiful safety pen around made in 1924-1928.In my view snake clip is optional parts(I'm not sure) I suggest you should fine someone who are expert in restoring vintage pen, because the seal may not in functional to let your pen has leaking problem. Also you mentioned some safety pen model were (20 25 30 35 40 45), there is later probuct of your no.2 safety.this is no.2 pens family(00 01 1 2 4 6 8 10 12) .Finally I can tell you this pen was absolutely valuable,I am also like montblanc safety pen too.You can get some information about montblanc pens on this website http://montblanc.parkerpens.org/montblanc.html

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

@Ruaidhri This was an absolutely wonderful bit of writing, and I hope that you're able to maintain the style once all of the medications are out of your system.  Take care and recover quickly!

These comments make me sad as I sympathise with Ruaidhri, having great difficulties in being taken seriously. Or being taken at all (no off-colors jokes, please!) In spite of overwhelming odds,  Ruaidhri -now I know how to spell it- made a courageous decision and stuck to it. I was diagnosed with a similar growth in a place I will not reveal. Oh, well, if you insist it was Mount Sinai Hospital. But I firmly intend to walk in Ruaidhri's footsteps, if he will let me, on my next visit to Dublin.

Reminds me of the day my associates and I developed a cure for all mankind's ills and mistakenly wrote it down with invisible ink.

Was that the end of the Laboratory? Somehow the exactitude created a fully destructive device, as always!
