Can You Id This Pen?

A few days ago I bought this pen because it had a filling system I've never seen before.

The only visible marking is the name "Packard" on the clip. I can't even say for sure if it is made out of celluloid or bakelite :-(

The filling system is quite simple. There's just some kind of a "pushrod" that is used to fill the pen.

The only info I found about Packard states that these were cheap pens in the 30s and 40s (http://www.richardspens.com/?page=ref/glossary/P.htm) but the nib on mine doesn't match that description:

Apart from smelling really strange (that's why I don't think it's made out of celluloid) it's a nice pen that I really like to use... and (considering its potential age) the pen is in very good shape and doesn't leak at all :-)

Do you anything abount Packard and/or this pen?

No idea about the maker, but its a plunger filler.

Well the pen is a Packard as the name suggests, as you've found out a cheap 3rd maker and most likely celluloid. This is what's commonly called a "syringe" filler, works as the name implies. The nib looks to be as expected, basically a steel nib that appears in need of a bit of smoothing, it could well be a replacement though. A lot of these can be rather nice use pens, basic and unpretentious !!
