New Pink Lamy Safari

Recommended Posts

Look what Goulet Pens is going to be stocking starting in August. I've been scouting out pink ones on e-bay for a gift for a friend, but it seems that won't be necessary! Perhaps they heard the shouts of dismay from those who were not delighted by the Neon Yellow. Woo!

I know how you feel cause I felt the same way but got lucky just before Christmas and was able to get a used one from someone who kept it in mint condition.

It seems to be a popular color and one that someone is always looking for.

I really think they might do more then the 1 run they said when they see how fast it moves.

But I certainly would not hesitate to pick one up the moment they are released if I was still looking.

I like the Neon colour it's my favorite colour that's come out for a few years it was enough to persuade me to buy my first safari.

I wrote Todd at ISellPens. He plans on selling it when it becomes available.

It cannot be limited to just Goulet then. Nothing on the Lamy website...

Normally I don't like the grip on Safaris. But I do really like this color....

Oh no! :headsmack: I'm talking myself into it and I can't afford to be buying pens at the moment. Not with airline tickets and a second set of car payments upcoming (not to mention the school tax bill, which hasn't come yet).

Judging by what i see on "the auction site" Ruth, all limited edition safaris increase in value over time...ergo this is the one pen you can justify as an investment (not sure if those pens actually sell for those BIN prices though  )

It isn't limited to just us. It will be a limited production run, though, so I don't expect it to be available for a long period of time.

Thank you for clarifying the position

Well, my husband is currently on the phone with a friend of ours from Spokane, who (along with her partner) we are planning on visiting in August (after Steve's niece's wedding near Seattle), and they're trying to juggle schedules. Unfortunately my husband is having to take the time off as unpaid (yet another financial drain).

Also unfortunately, this *would* have been probably the only year ever I could have gotten to the DC Pen Show because of my normal vacation schedule getting moved (of course, given that I would have probably wanted to spend money at the show, maybe that's a *good* thing...).

Hmmm. Any recommendations for pen shops in Washington State? ;)

I have one of these in a "F" nib. Absolutely ♥ it. I was going to use a pink-ink in it, but have never found the right DEEP (i.e. wildly legible) shade of pink, so I'm using Private Reserve's Dakota Red.

My point? I highly recommend this pen!

Do I *need* a pink Lamy? No. Do I *need* another Safari? No. Will I be ordering one the moment Goulet (LOVE Goulet!) has it in stock? Du-uh... :D

I was excited when I first saw it advertised, thinking it was a new shade of pink, but then later saw somewhere that it is a re-release of a previous one.

As for whoever asked if the limited edition Safaris were *really* selling for those prices on Ebay:

Yes, they are. A couple of months ago, I was in a panic thinking I had lost my pink Safari. So for 3 or 4 weeks, I was bidding on every one I saw. I lost every auction when the bidding went above $80 and the last try, when the bidding went above $89 while I was sleeping.

Fortunately, I found my pink Safari about I week after that last loss. But those winning bids were 3 times the price it went for new.

  • 2 weeks later...

The Limited Edition Pink Lamy Safari is now in stock at both Goulet Pen and ISellPens. The latter sells it with a free converter.

Don't forget your pink ink samples for your new pen.

We want the Aquamarine too!!!!!!!!

(hehe, customer is never happy :P)

I had two - again, because I thought I had lost one, while it was still in production so I hurriedly ordered another one - then found the original in the wrong pocket of my business bag.

Now, lately I have been organizing my pens into large notebook-style pen holders and so far I've only found one of the aquamarines.

I'm trying to convince myself that as long as I have one in the pen holder, that's ok. I don't have to panic and try to replace the second one.

But I would probably buy it if they did another run of it.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
