Diamine Salamander - Coming Soon!

Announcing a forthcoming ink from Diamine - Salamander. I've put a description in Market Watch as it won't be available on the market for about six to eight weeks yet, so I can't post any scans or a review proper until then.

You'll just have to wait but it will be worth it, I can tell you.

AND - I was asked to name it!

More soon.

Oooh. How evolved of you.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

So this will be their No. 101? How many more are in their safe?

When I get the last part of the combination, I'll let you know.

Is it the color of a Sopwith Camel? If so, I might have to get in on this. Any water resistance?

Just look for the RFC colour PC 10. I'm no expert but I'd have to hazard a guess that the colours applied to aircraft in the field, as it were, especially in the frantic days of WWI, wouldn't have necessarily been consistent. Especially the mixing.

So of course I'll answer - yes; the same as a Camel.

One hump or two?

I'd go to the Shuttleworth Collection to get a colour match. Water resistance is fine, but there are problems when the airfield gets too muddy.

I asked a visitor what colour the world "Salamander" made them think of and they did reply "green". It makes me think of the hot orange/red salamanders but I agree that there are many more greeny-newt-coloured ones.

I am looking forward to trying it but I hope it is more moderately saturated than, say, Sargasso Sea which I had smudging issues with.

Now how to I persuade Phil to send me an advance sample too for reviewing?

It certainly hasn't got the saturation like Sargasso or Majestic, I can assure you and I haven't noticed any smudging issues at all.
