Hi,

I'm new here but I was reading all the topics in this forum.

I just ended up ordering Platinum Music Nib with cursive italic customization and wonder to know if someone else already have this pen to ask about.

Best regards

I love the Platinum music nibs but I've not heard of the particular modification you are having done. I like the smoothness of these music nibs and I'm not very good with the sharp edges on many cursive italics. The music nib, just as it is, gives lots of line variation.

Hi Strang,

Thanks for reply. You're right. I make a search on the web and didin't find other platinuns with this mod...

I'll post a review when it's arrive...

Best regards

I think Geoduc had a writing sample for a Nakaya Music nib that Mottishaw cut to a Cursive Italic. Not Platinum branded but I think the nibs are more than just identical in make.

Each purchase from nibs has been a pleasure, and the one nib I had customized was exactly as I described how I wanted it.

You can look forward to a wonderful pen,

Yes, I bet in nibs quality when ordered the pen and customization.

Now I need to be patient and wait for new toy.

When you do get the pen with the modified nib, could you please post a writing sample. Thx.

Seconding that request - I'd love to see a writing sample and hear how you like the nib!

I have a Nakaya music nib, and a broad cursive italic (ground by John Mottishaw), but a Platinum/Nakaya music nib with cursive italic...now, that's interesting!! :)

Hi,

I received a e-mail from nibs dot com today with the shipped status info!!

I'll post the write sample when it's arrive but the brazilian mail and customs authorities are very slow... I have a Sailor Fude Pen with the customs authorities since 31th may and I haven't received the tax documents to pay yet

Custom work from John Mottishaw (nibmeister at nibs.com) is always great, cursive italic nibs are a great way to add a flourish to your writing or even do some calligraphy!

The little things really count.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
