This nib is on a pen that is allegedly circa 1935 , German and made of celluloid....but the manufacturer is unknown. Odd, I know...but the nib intrigues me bth with the mark and the purity stamp..anyone have an idea who made this?

it's beautiful. Is it a stallion, a mustang or a unicorn?

I have a vintage Bock which has a goat in front of a mountain on the nib. But I don't know about this Rampant Unicorn mark.

I had to turn my laptop upside down to see the logo better. But the heraldry geek in me is saying "(maybe) unicorn" (German-style ones sometimes did not have the "beard" that you normally see in heraldic unicorns), because it definitely looks like it's got a lion's tail; the horn, on the other hand, is a bit wimpy...).

The nib appears to have a silver-colored cast to it (or at least that's how the image is coming up my my screen). But it appears to also say 14C. What does the decimal number mean? Is that some sort of alloy number? It makes me think of the decimal number hallmark for sterling silver but that is, IIRC .985 (I have a bracelet that my great aunt gave me that was made somewhere in South America, and my mom looked up the marking).

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

0.585 means 58.5% gold or 14c. 100% gold is 24c. 75% =18c

Hi there............. I am living in Switzerland, this is my first comment, so take it easy on me :)

I too now have a vintage pen with this NIB did anyone ever find out who made them .... 😀

It is on the blue pen, which I also have no idea who made it ........ looks a bit like a sheafer balance military but the shape of the barrel end is really strange.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
