Wooden Boxes

So, my question for today is: does anyone know where you can get wooden boxes for storing ink bottles, and pens that aren't in use? I saw some on Hobbycraft's website but they might be too small, I'm going there tomorrow to have a look.

 

Note: Suggesting cigar boxes is a no-go, there's nowhere round here that would have them.

I've been curious about the same question for a while now too. After searching on the FPN, I figure a custom box would be perfect (especially with a few blank slots in case any pens come to visit or reside ). I'm familiar with basic carpentry and woodworking techniques but unfortunately lack the machinery to do it myself. I'll be sure to check back on this thread later for any and all suggestions

Ink bottles are currently all between 6 and 8 cm tall, though a 30ml Diamine bottle is on its way to me (should be here tomorrow). I only have 5 bottles + the Diamine.

 

I have six* pens, and would need to store 4-5.

Not much use for storing pens but chess piece boxes seem ideal for holding bottles of ink. I just dug my old box out (for test purposes) and each partition can hold 2 bottles of Waterman ink, so 4 overall.

I was prepared to suggest a large assortment of cigar boxes. (Some people love

to steal my joy.)

 

Check the local craft store for boxes. Recipe card boxes ? Do they have to be

wooden ? How about biscuit tins ? A vinyl box with lid, such as Tupperwear, or

Rubbermaid.

 

Do you know a pipe smoker ? How about a large a "standing" tin from pipe tobacco ?

St. Bruno's or Erinmore or Half and Half ? Coffee container ?

 

A toy lorrey (?) might look nice on the shelf, filled with ink bottles.

 

Emmigrate to America. We have cigar boxes.

Tupperware is transparent, and my room has no dark spots to keep the ink out of the light... Do cigar boxes pop up on eBay?

I see a pattern emerging here pens, ink and now pen storage.

There is nothing to stop you doing the same

 

These decoupage boxes are easy to adapt you could paint or stain it any colour you want.
