Hi y'all!

I am just coming back to fountain pens after a long absence.

The first FP I ever bought was a Tombow Object CD when they were available in the US, and it is still one of my daily writers. My next FP was a law school graduation gift from my Grandfather: a Montblanc Nikoli in Platinum.

My first job after law school made FP use impractical, but now that I am in private practice, I can use them again. I am currently in a demonstrator/eyedropper mood, because I've had a couple of pens stolen from my desk - a blue lapis Ahab and my Black Tombow Object CD, but my Conklin demonstrator was left alone- and it was the most expensive!

I am partial to Noodlers and J.Herbin inks, burial trying to branch out into other colors.

Hello and welcome to you. Pen theft at the workplace is a real fear isnt it. Pleased to say it didnt happen to me but making the consequences known seemed to get through !!!

Welcome !

Fountain pen stealing should be a capital offense.

Find out who stole your pens. We will help you do stuff to him.

Well, whoever took the Noodlers Ahab was in for a surprise: I had it set up as an eyedropper filled with black ink!

Hello and welcome! I have family in Kissimmee as well as The Villages... well, family all over FL but these would be closest to you LOL!

Thankfully, my co-workers are not only decent people, they haven't the slightest interest in FPs. Mine remain, happily, unmolested; and my favorite half dozen travel with me just in case. ;)

Very nice to have you here. :)

Welcome to FPN from the NE part of Florida.

The next pen you leave on your desk needs to be a carefully restored Snorkel. Filled with Baystate Blue.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
