2013 Edison Morgan Le Manufacturing Progress Thread

Hi, Brian.

I see on your web site that you have #5 size nibs in 1.9mm and 2.3mm italics. Do you plan on offering these in the #6 size nibs? Soon? Please?

The manufacturer has no plans to offer these really wide sizes, that I know of. Those are really huge for most people. If they offer them, I'd buy them, however.

The ones that I have for the #5 sized pens were leftover from a custom order a long time ago. Once those are gone, they are gone.

Can the #5 nibs be used in Edisons made for the #6 nibs?

David

Yes, probably, but there would be some customization fees, I'm sure.

But you should consider this...if you put a #5 nib on a pen that was engineered for a #6 nib, it might look proportionately strange. It might look like a decent sized pen with a tiny stubby nib on it. I wouldn't guarantee that the pen wouldn't look "off" in the end.

Holy cow those are super pretty!!! I absolutely cannot wait to have one in my hand. It's going to look great right next to its Beige Swirl Pearl sibling in my pen wrap.

Also, as an aside, I am so miffed about the dates of the Chicago show. I will be in town the following week for a conference. Grrrrr.... :bonk:

Claussens: the official pickle of the Gray family!

If the manufacturer doesn't foresee any 1.9 or 2.3 nibs, any chance they'd offer a nice 1.3?

Now that I see shiny Briar pics, I no longer lust after the Neon. :)

So am I correct in thinking you do ten pens at a time? Does it get boring when you do batches or production line pens? Can the 2014 be a bulb filling Glenmont? I'll pay right now! :-)

Our production rate depends on the day.

You might have just missed out on a LE Bulb Filler that we did with the Andersons not too long ago.

As far at 2014, it's way too early to determine. I have a couple of new filling systems up my sleeve right now....we'll have to see which ones make it to prime time.

An Ebonite ripple would cause a stampede ?

Or would a stampede cause the ebonite to ripple? :)

No, that's not blood. That's Noodler's Antietam.

A coin filler (dime?) would be unique in this day and age.

Barring something unforeseen, it looks likely to start shipping around the end of this week.

Maybe not this week. I just heard from my engraver, and they might take him a little longer than normal. I'll let everyone know as soon as I do.

I'd like to take a minute to give a big thanks to all who participated for supporting small independent businesses like ours!

It's been a pleasure to do this project, and as long as there is interest, we'll host a group buy like this every spring.

Sound good?

Thanks again - Brian at Edison

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
