Sailor Fountain Pen Music Nib Review

Hi there,

Having been researching Sailor fountain pens for a long time,

I've just tried to make the video review of Sailor Music nib

in English for members of FPN.

Before this post, I have already shared some research results

on FPN, however, most of them have no English subtitles or no

explanations in English.

So this is the first time to share the fountain pen review in

Engllish. (Incidentally, I'm a native born Japanese.)

This may be hard (for native speakers) to understand what I'm

saying though, if this is informative, I'd be more than happy

to be of service to you.

Your English is far superior to my Japanese, and your handwriting is better than that of most Americans any day!

Thank you for a very nice review.

Nice! I have been looking to get Sailor specialty nibs for a really long time but held back because I don't see myself using them very often. I would love one of these music nibs if I can obtain one someday. :eureka:

Thank you, nicholasyeo.

I always carry around this pen and use it as a highlighter.

I hope you'll also make use of Sailor's Music nib. :)

Have a good weekend,

Thank you very much for this. You have nothing to apologize for concerning your English. I understood perfectly.

Thank you. I'm really glad to hear that.

I felt at ease!

Take care,

Virtuthe3rd, you are a treasure of information!

Thank you for the wonderful video review, and thank you for taking the time to do it in English; by the way, your English is just fine, I didn't have any difficulty whatsoever understanding you.

To tell you the truth, I would love if some of your other wonderful videos on Japanese craftsmen had english subtitles, but I know this is too much to ask of you. It is enough to witness those master craftsmen create wonderful objects.

Keep up the good work, you are invaluable.

Thank you so much for the kind words, Aris.

I'm going to keep uploading the videos of fountain pens and their craftsmen.

Very nice and easily understandable review.

It seems this nib has a decent amount of spring/flex. I was wondering if you could comment a little bit about that.

Thanks.

Fool me once, shame on you.

Fool me twice; damn

There goes that fox again.

I usually avoid videos, as I usually read on my phone and post using my laptop.

Good job on your videos! And your English really is very good, just has a touch of a Japanese accent. It's no problem for me, and it just increases my respect for you, being willing to learn a language other than your mother tongue. Being able to speak 3 languages and now trying to master a fourth, I'm really awed at how well you were able to express ideas in a foreign language! It really isn't easy!

Back to your video, it really was helpful. Was actually curious to note the scratchy sound it had when it wrote. Always thought Sailor nibs were usually TOO smooth!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
