Thanks for putting this together. It was fun! Lots of nice pens and nice people. The LA Pen Posse rocks!

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

Thank you for your generosity, Frank -- in putting together the Akkerman group purchase, and in sharing your excellent bourbon, Scotch and cigars. It was a pleasure meeting you. Repeat next year?

Joi, thanks again for being the instigator of the gathering. It was completely fun to see old friends and meet new ones. It was a perfect night for the outdoor dining, and you did a bang-up selection on the appetizers, too!

The hang back at the hotel just continued the great feeling. I think next year I may turn down any work during this period so i can stay the whole show (I had to drive back to SD to play tonight's opera performance). TBH, I was amazed at how many people remembered me from simply meeting them last year. What a wonderful group of humans, these pen folks!

Thanks to Joi for her exceptional organisational skills for setting up the dinner, and to all who I met on Friday ! Joi's ability to gather all in for this dinner along with finding a splendid venue is incredible.

Truly, a wonderful event, and even more fun with the aprés-dinner gathering at the hotel for yet more pens, ink, and the odd drop of a fine single malt courtesy of Frank.

What a fun time! Joi, you did a great job corralling us all and organizing -- thank you! Hope to see you in San Francisco in October. And maybe at the Poland Pen Show in April. :-)

P.S. WOW! The Iroshizuku Chiku-rin ink you gave me is a beautiful green! I filled my black Piccolo (my first Nakaya) with it -- I LOVE the color! Before I saw the color, I thought I would share the ink with Pen Posse on Sunday, but now I kindv want to hoard it, ha ha ha. I'm kidding. I will share it. Thank you so much, Joi!

New Pen Posse sub-posse: Inks and Drinks. :-)

I endorse this product and/or message (though I might fiddle with the order...)

On a semi-related note, last night with dinner, M decided to make a new side-dish: the Brussel Sprouts, as done at the Tin Roof Bistro! Totally paired well with Macadamia-crusted Mahi-Mahi. Mmmmm...

Again, Joi: great location! Per Ricky's suggestion, next year let's have them give us the ENTIRE patio! :roflmho:

Brett, there's go-go dancing right now.

:-)

Ricky, Marta said that she drank the Akkerman Violet rather than surrender it to TSA. :-p

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
