Wow.

What a beautiful pen!

Just give me the Parker 51s and nobody needs to get hurt.

Nib custom-ground by Pablo Carrasco. A really sweet writing nib, both smooth and crisp.

I have gone back a few pages and am now mostly caught up on all the wide nibs shared with everyone.  So many great pens and fine writing here!!!

I occasionally pick up pens and want to show you a special one recently sent my way., Bamapen’s Moonwalk Pen (funny that I misspelled "artist" - ah well!)20022DA7-A67A-4FBF-9CD7-909C3912A755.thumb.jpeg.d4f00496e84d11abd95745194d53b76c.jpegFBDF1C7F-792F-4C5D-B034-5D3B739AD2AE.thumb.jpeg.d1d1e0a49c44f167c852ce5a6f382112.jpeg9AE8B83E-F2FD-459D-A2E1-4845EB6D0499.thumb.jpeg.e55f2507c9ca81a605876a4fb30dedc9.jpeg

Here is a Parker 75 in vermeil crosshatch (14k gold plating over sterling silver), with a  factory #98 Heavy Italic nib.

The vermeil has a barely discernible gold tint that can be seen next to sterling silver. Below is the vermeil 75 (left) next to its cousin, a French made 75 Premier in sterling silver.

David, as always your pens (and penmanship) are magnificent.  What are the chances we could see a family photo of your Leonardos?

I am back to FPN after a long long gap and this is my first post in this topic.

Stub of the Day: Wality 69 LP with stock fine nib which is ground to cursive italic. Since it was a fine nib I had a little doubt what would be the result after grinding, because the tipping was small. But the result came out satisfactory.

Thank you David!

I will take the family portrait as you suggest and post it to the Leonardo Photo topic.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
