Seven New Nakaya's

Yes, I use a circa punch and use multiple types of paper (mostly Rhodia). In my Circa now, I have Clairfontaine, Rhodia Dot, Rhodia Graph, Rhodia Premium and some Tomoe River. I love the Circa notebook and the ability to have a variety of paper all in the same notebook.

Did you Circa punch Rhodia paper in your writing sample?

And I have been lighting lots of candles for the money to one day get a Nakaya. I hate being poor! LOL!

Great pens! The more Nakaya pens I accumulate - and their number is growing steadily, though by far not as rapidly as seen here -, the more I'm being fascinated by how they are all a tiny bit different. (Same goes for Danitrios of course.) Not just the colour or details of the lacquer work but also the pen's bodies themselves. Two Portable Cigars, one perfectly cylindrical (except for the very tips), one with a noticeably tapered barrel. Two Portable Writers, one "standard size", the other one quite a bit fatter - not quite as much as their 17mm model, but halfway there. Hand made things are great.

The "fattie", by the way, is a Negoro which arrived today (so it was me who bought it the day before your inquiry... lucky me, I guess!)

I don't really "get" the stone finish though, maybe I would if I ever saw one in person? But it's clearly better for my wallet this way. ;)

Enjoy your beautiful new pens!

Nice!

Yup, really like your handwriting. Still.

:-)

Thank you, you are very kind.

I am not sure I really get the finish either but it is growing on me. It has a very nice tactile feel to it and I really like the size.

If you wish to sell the Negoro, keep me in mind.

I am considering the Piccolo as well but I am not sure of the sizing. We'll see.

Soon to be nine. I broke down today and ordered a Piccolo and another Naka-ai. Should be here tomorrow. So far, I am really liking the Naka-ai.

One in Aka-tamenuri and one in unpolished Shu. Also should be getting the Pelikan M910 in today. Will post a couple of pics when they arrive.

I LOVE the unpolished shu! I like the aka tamenuri, too -- my Naka-ai is aka.

Which is which? I'd like to see an unpolished shu Naka-ai.

Looking forward to seeing your photos!

Absolutely beautiful! Your pens could almost look like my pens, although I have "only" eight Nakayas, only one with a clip, and my Pelikan Toledo is gold vermeil (I prefer the silver, but it wasn't an option when I bought mine more than 20 years ago).

I wish you many, many happy years of writing!

Thanks. My purchasing spree is over for a while. Well, almost. I ordered a couple of Nakays in Negoro and a Danitrio Raw, but that is it. Time to enjoy them all a weed out any that dont make the cut.

Funny. I have a Piccolo in unpolished shu (LOVE IT!) and the Naka-ai, as I said, is aka tamenuri -- the opposite of yours. Also, no clips.

I would take a photo of my pens to mirror yours (I have fewer models, though), but the Naka-ai and Long Piccolo are with Ernest Shin who is painting kanji in maki-e on them. :-)

I like the looks of the Naka-ai in unpolished shu.

That may be my next Nakaya, although I think I'd consider a ruthenium nib and perhaps a matte ruthenium clip.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
