Snail Mail Writing List

Titivillus

Recommended Posts

Just a short message for all my pen pals. I am so sorry for the lack of replies this winter. I have lived in a tent for soon five months now and it is raining raining storming and raining more all the time. Too moist to keep paper and envelopes here, and life is just demanding enough in itself right now, not sure when I will be able to catch up.

I have no chair, no desk, nowhere to sit to write, I mean it's winter tent life in a scandinavian country, so bear with me, as soon as weather turns drier I will catch up! And I completely understand all those who wish to opt out at this point, as I am not sure I will get my life back together until fall.

Take care! <3

Hi all,

im looking for correspondences a little closer to home this time, so that I can write more frequently. Specifically, I would like to discuss current politics (UK, EU, and world). I'm also interested in talking about philosophy, pens, ink, pencils (a new found interest), paper, sealing wax (another new interest), although I'm happy to talk about whatever happens to come up.

If that sounds like it might interest you, and you're from the UK, or mainland Europe, drop me a PM and I'll get a letter out to you.

:)

Hi there!

I would be glad to find my very first pen pal!) I really love German and English languages so it would be great to get to know native speakers of both languages)

I'm 27, live in Novosibirsk, Russia. I would also be glad to help if you study Russian) I feel more comfortable and natural when writing letters to females. Some more information about me can be found in the introduction section of the FPN or simply write me a message if you have some questions)

So i definitely slacked last year on writing letters back :( although i am taking the semester off from school and have lots of time! Undergraduate Psychology right now with graduate school coming later.

Interest:

Video games (battlefield 4 right now), wood working, Fountain Pens, Anything vintage- typewriters, Read all the time- about to finish Departure A. G. Riddles next read Janie face to face Caroline B. Cooney maybe?, intellectual conversations most people get bored with- aka. dark matter, goldilocks zone, time travel via speed and gravity.
:D
Also, my handwriting may be a little crazy for awhile, since i'm trying to learn to use my arm to write.
Let me know if you want to write!

I used to have a few pen pals when I was a kid, now I am 35 it has been a few years but would like to get it going again.

I am married, with children. I travel a lot, so letters/cards would probably have a variety of postmarks on them.

I like dark humour, and would like this to be a subject matter for letters sent and received. I think it could be a lot of fun, but not for the faint hearted!

PM me if interested

Greetings.

This is my second time looking for a pen pal, as I have never had a 'snail mail' correspondent before. Any discussion topic is fine.

I am an Australian male, 19, single.

I am currently studying a Bachelor of Biomedical science (Honours) in Australia, yet I have diverse interests. I am not particularly invested in Australian politics (knowing what our country is like), but I am willing to discuss politics (international or local).

I love music (listening more than playing), football/soccer, FPs, history of any kind, reading, films, games (of many types, digital and physical) and any insight into another person's life.

Physical items are much better than the multitude of digital replacements this generation, thus I treasure my fountain pens, vinyl collection and turntable as well as expanding bookshelf.

I am open-minded and love reading, especially if you are a budding writer/critic.

Proficient in both English and (somewhat less) Italian, I am enthusiastic to write in either language.

I am looking for a maximum of 2 pen pals.

Hoping to hear from some of you soon.

Hello!

I made a post to a similar forum a while back and would like to have a few more pen pals. I am from Germany and visit quite often, but I moved to the US when I was young and currently live in Alaska for work. I do not speak German fluently. I have recently been studying the language in an attempt to learn it. I also study Japanese and a little Spanish (although my Spanish skills are TERRIBLE). I have been interested in fountain pens for a few years, but have just recently found FPN.

I am a third year college student studying who knows what. I hope to attend law school in the near future. I am interested in writing to anyone from anywhere. I enjoy sending and receiving letters in the mail, so if you would like to write me a letter, drop a line and we'll talk.

Thanks!

- Jordan

ad4vs I collect and use vintage fountain pens and dip pens as well as desk sets and some inkwells. I am also a ham radio operator. I just retired after 35 years. I have always liked fountain pens because of the way the ink flows on the paper. When I go to antique shops or estate sales or auctions I always look for pens as well as old letters, invoices ect.

So I currently have no penpals and am posting here to change that hopefully!

I'm 29 years old, and live in the USA, in New Jersey. I was originally born in New York City and lived there until my late teens. I happen to be of the female persuasion. I'm new to this hobby, just came aboard earlier this month and would love someone I could exchange letters with who might also be able to impart knowledge and wisdom on the subject to me. I am a bit of a girly girl but value intellect and good humor. I enjoy stories and all mediums that they can be conveyed through (tv shows, films, plays, books, even the occasional video game). I think having someone to correspond with would be good incentive for me to stay focused on this hobby in the face of what can sometimes be a stressful job.

Full disclosure: I'm working on improving my handwriting, so please don't expect anything fancy and artistic just yet, though I do try and plan to continue to work on that area. I can also essentially much guarantee your letters from me will either be written in pink ink or on pink paper. Just in case that might put you off, I wouldn't want anyone to be too surprised by that.

I look forward to hearing from anyone who might be interested!

I'm on the hunt for pen pals.

Good conversation topics include archaeology, science fiction, fantasy, video games, classical music, and cats.

Fair warning, I never learned handwriting formally growing up. I am now teaching myself, but it is very slow going to write in anything other than incomprehensible chicken scratch. As it is I will be very slow replying because I'm typing my reply, then copying it out in pencil, and finally copying it onto nice stationary in pen.

"Science fiction is an existential metaphor, that allows us to tell stories about the human condition. Isaac Asimov once said: 'Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today but the core of science fiction, its essence has become crucial to our salvation, if we are to be saved at all."

I'm new here but it's correspondence writing month and that sounds like a good time. So hi.

I'm a 22 year old college student in Orlando, FL. I study anthropology and focus on archaeology. I also minor in literature so that I get a minor while waiting to graduate. As it is, analyzing pottery takes a long time when you can't just take it home.

I don't have very good handwriting, but I'd love to messily write a letter if anyone wants one.

If you do, just let me know.

Hello,

I am a single male living in the United States. I am currently attending college for political science. I have a small collection consisting of two pens, one bottle of ink and some stationery paper. I have been itching to use the small collection for social purposes so this seems like it will work. Creativity is not one of my strengths and I usually prefer more logical and pragmatic endeavors. This makes my interest in fountain pens a historical one.I am open for messaging anybody from anywhere and disusing a variety of topics. Topics include:

Politics: This is one of my passions and I enjoy conversing with people on it and is an area that I am fairly knowledgeable.

Nerd pop culture- I enjoy Doctor Who, Star Wars, Marvel movies, Games of Thrones ect. and would love to discuss it.

Board games and RPGs- I am an avid player of both and love talking about different the merits and strategies of different games.

There are other subjects listed on my profile page that I would be interested in talking about.

Topics I have limited knowledge about:

Music- I generally listen to the top 40 that plays on the radio. However I have a bit of knowledge about folk-punk and classical music/opera (of which 19th century is my favorite).

Art- I know a bit about 19th century French Realism and Art Deco but that is about it. Modern Art confuses me but I still think I could probably do it as a fallback career.

Poetry- I have read The Odyssey, The Iliad, The Aeneid and some other Greco-Roman poetry due to my interest in mythology but that is about it.

The only topic I will not discuss is religion due to its extremely personal nature.

P.S.

I am working on my handwriting so hopefully it will improve over time.

I'll try my best at brevity.

-31 year old Californian

-Office Manager, but volunteer often as an events coordinator

Intrests include, but certainly not limited to:

-Single malt scotch whisky (especially from the Islay region)

-Micro and craft beer (I coordinate a beerfest annually and co-coordinate an Oktoberfest event too, amongst other events)

-Reading

-Pens and inks (of course)

-Sunglasses

-Knitting

-Criterion Movies

-Not understanding pop-cultural references (I don't own a TV and I don't wanna)

-Office supplies (why I became an office manager--paradise!)

Much like the last few posters, my cursive is not so pristine, but, through consist letter writing, I'd like to improve on it.

Pen pal does not have to have same interests, only a willingness to write. I do ask, however, that said pen pal be, at minimum, 25 years of age.

Thanks!

Hello All

I am a longtime letter writer, though until recently only to family and friends (not all as keen to write as I!). I am a 55 year old man and an English teacher at secondary school level in southwest Scotland (the northern part of Britain/the United Kingdom). I am happy to write on any subject with varying levels of knowledge and (in)competence. I would post my address, but I know one is not allowed to do that on FPN; so please feel free to PM.

Kindest regards

Timothy

Apart from now being a 56 year old semi-retired English teacher, not a great deal has changed. I have quite a few great regular correspondents, but the vicissitudes of life/extreme boredom have resulted in others dropping off the epistolary radar and I would be happy to start some new conversations. Location, interests, state of life, etc, do not matter, and don't think English teacher means you get your letter back with corrections!

Kind regards

Timothy

I'm hoping to give this a try to spend more time using my pens and improving my letterman-ship. Won't go through a full bio but I'm a 20 something guy from Australia looking to discuss culture, places (travel tips) and 'things' from around the world. No politics or religion. PM if you've got room for another pen pal.

I'd love to participate in this.

I'm one to prefer talking about myself in letters but to let anyone interested know, I'm a 29-yr old guy in Texas and I ride a motorcycle daily so that means every day is a new game of dodge-car. 😖

I have a dog, a Shiba Inu, that is very much a typical Shiba. ¬_¬

and yeah, not much to go off but well, I do love fountain pens so... heh

I'm up for discussing anything, really. Just if we start talking on a topic and disagree about it then as long as you don't put me down simply because of my view then I'm game

Hello FPN,

I tend to simply peruse the forums of this great website rather than actually contribute a great deal but I have decided it is time to make a change and get a little more involved, or at least write to another member of the site!

I am a 22 year old medic from London with a particular taste for flamboyant fountain pens, quality stationary, vibrant inks, dip pens and amateur calligraphy. It would be great to get the odd letter about philosophy or medicine, the odd bit of calligraphy would be fantastic. I would oblige with my own weak attempts in return!

Drop a PM if interested, UK or further afield.

Jonny

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
