Lamy 2000 And The Origins Of Lamy Design

I found this amazing review while looking for posts about the MB 224 and my favorite pen, the Lamy 2000. Thank you for the time and painstaking research on my favorite pen.

 

I was eventually able to find a comparison but tbh I was shocked that the MB 224 and the Lamy 2000 to my untrained eyes seem quite alike.

Reading this article after 9 years almost. Recently purchased this wonderful pen, and all my queries and doubts on the 'A - Z' of this pen have litterally vanished after reading it.. just amazing and it was an immense pleasure reading it.

This is my first post on this esteemed forum, and I have a question for the forum-goers, especially the Lamy fans and/or experts out there. 

 

Is it normal for a current Lamy 2000 NOT to have any "Lamy" imprint on (any part of) the pen?

 

You see, I bought this brand new Lamy 2000 (standard black makrolon edition) a week ago, from an authorized Lamy retailer, no less.  Only belatedly did I notice that the "Lamy" imprint that should normally be on the clip of this pen, is nowhere to be seen.  It's not on the clip, and it's certainly not on the pen's body, or nib.  It is just not on this pen.

 

As this is my first and only Lamy fountain pen, I am somewhat concerned.  Could it be a case of poor quality control by Lamy Germany?  Or did I get an old(er) stock?  Should I have this replaced?

Aside from this missing "Lamy" imprint, the pen as far as I can tell, is all OK.  Been using it and so far so good.

 

Any input about the case of the missing imprint will be much appreciated. Please enlighten me.  Thanks in advance.

My fairly recent Lamy 2000 has the Lamy imprint on the upper edge of the clip, right near the top of the clip, on the left side when looking at the pen straight on, with the clip in front.

Yes this is what I've observed in most pictures on the  internet -- the Lamy imprint on the right side of the clip.  Guess I'll just have this one replaced for much needed peace of mind.  Thanks.

I got my Lamy 2000 EF recently.  I am relatively new to fountain pens based out of India and started with a  Steel pen (Picasso Parri Avenger) with Magnetic clip from a local pen store. Though the looks were good it stops in between and I had to push some ink from the cartridge and it had some feedback when writing. After some research i found that Lamy 2000 is very well Engineered and possibly a Workhorse pen and got one.

 

The Lamy 2000 writes buttery smooth (with Waterman ink). Its as if writing on the Air for me, truly enjoying it. Thanks for all members and reviewers which gave me good insights. This Pen seems to be a very good investment.
