Thanks, folks. I'm glad people like it. Im not surprised that it washes away. I remember being shocked that it didn't wash off the first time I tested it. Of course, I could have dreamed that bit. The only really waterproof green that I've got is Noodlers Hunter Green. That sucker doesn't budge under water.

I've mixed up a really good blue/black, too, but I didn't write down the mix, so I have to figure it out again before I can post it.

Holy cow, look at that shading. Gorgeous. Habanero is a really nice shader anyway and LE doesn't appear to be a slouch in that dept either, so it looks like you really got the best of both!

I've been trying various green samples to find the least obnoxious green I can, but I never thought of mixing my own. This one's really nice! Good job!!!

I just made up a bottle of this mix.

I wonder if I measured right, it looks more olive than what I see on the screen. No matter, I like it a lot! Very nice fall color.

Thanks for posting.

I really like it! I'm convinced that many ink companies create their color varieties by combining existing inks or, or just adding some water.

Your mix might well have been a little different than mine. I wasn't measuring all that carefully. My scientist wife wouldn't have been happy with my method.

It sounds like you had more blue in the mix than I did. If you have time, share your results!

That looks very nice! I have Habanero, but for blues I have Noodler's Blue and Midway Blue, and I have North African Violet too (which works great with Heart of Darkness). I will have to try it with one of those sometime. Thanks for sharing.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
