That's really beautiful Shawn and in a color brown that I really like. I can't recall seeing that color before.

Okay, this pen is now an eyedropper filled with Noodler's X-feather. Oh yeah, I also replaced the fine nib with a bold ground to an arabic by Mr. Newton. I'm loving it. This setup will accompany me to work for the next three days. Let's see how it does.

I'm anxious to hear how you like that Arabic grind. :)

To be honest, at first I didn't care for it. I expected more line variation. I've been playing with it all day...I mean ALL day. If it had more line variation I wouldn't be able to use it at work. Also, more line variation means less smooth. As it is now it is really smooth. I like how it makes my writing look. It' subtle, most people wouldn't notice it but it adds a bit of flair to everyday writing. I like it. Also, how do you get JoWo nibs to keep from drying out? I've had many pens with JoWo nibs and they always seem to dry out very quickly. I don't seem to have that problem from the two that I got with this pen.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

One week plus update. I'm loving this pen more and more. I stuck the arabic grind in there and haven't looked back. It is apparent that this pen was crafted by someone who writes. The shape of the pen is perfect.

  • 2 weeks later...

Another update. The longer I have this pen the more good things I have to say. Last week I was not able to take my fountain pens to work (long story.) I had just filled this pen with Noodler's Liberty's Elysium. A beautiful ink but one that does not usually flow well when left sitting. I didn't touch this pen for the entire week. It started right up this weekend. The threads and nib are the best I've seen any pen of this type.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
