Wiggly Waterman Charleston

Recommended Posts

I bought a Waterman Charleston a couple of years ago as my first-ever fountain pen. I use it every day, have discarded all of my other (disposable) pens, and love it dearly. That said, there is a bit near the end of the barrel above the nib---where I typically hold the pen to write---that has become slightly loose. It rotates freely left and right by about a half a degree, but doesn't move up and down on the barrel. It's not the end of the world, but I don't understand why it's happened and it's distracting.

Any ideas what's going on or how I can fix it? Is this something I could be able to fix myself, or should I seek out wiser hands?

Here's a picture of my pen with the bit that has the play in it identified:
