Any Experience With Wancher Fps?

Lorna Reed

Recommended Posts

I have my eye on a very attractive looking Wancher FP on the Bay. The only Wancher product I have is a leather 2-pen case so I'm wondering if anyone out there has any experience with Wancher FPs?

I am put off in case some one asks me - "what make of pen is that?" and I don't like to lie  and have to reply -"It's a wancher"

I bought the brushed metal bodied one that looks like a Lamy 2000 and I like it, though I wish it were bigger. The nib is very smooth, and build quality is unexceptionable. The cap clicks on with a satisfying sound comparable to that on my Parker Premier which costs 8x more. Wancher is the name of the online pen and stationery brand begun by Taizo-San, the proprietor of the well-known online Japanese pen store Engeika. He seems to source the items from various countries, and the packaging of the pen had no information on the country of origin.

S.T. Dupont Ellipsis 18kt M nib

Opus 88 Flow steel M nib

Waterman Man 100 Patrician Coral Red 18kt factory stub nib

Hi Folks !

I bought one via ebay from engeika. And I just received.

I will write a detailed review. But now I dont want to share my first time feelings.

Looking forward to your review as I am wondering whether to get the blue version of this pen.

I too bought one of those Wancher Lamy 2000 looky likeys about 12 months ago. It was going for a song on ebay.

Massive mistake. The nib was awful, the pen was a terrible starter and once started never kept going

I also had a grey Serwex pen that was giving me grief. It forever kept totally evaporating it's reservoir of ink if left for a week or so.

Took the fine nib from the Serwex and swapped it into the Wancher.

All luverly now. :)

They've a new series now called "melodies of colour", whatever that means. Does anyone know anything about them? Any good? Who made them?

The only Wancher brand pen I have is the Eastrong Lamy 2K lookalike which is very smooth indeed but too broad for me, and it dries out very quickly.

I just received a Wancher Melodies of Color in purple marble.

Very attractive pen. Reminds me of a Levenger True Writer. My initial reaction is the nib is average. Perhaps swapping out the nib would push this one over the top.

I was shocked how quickly this arrived. Ordered on a Sunday and it was in my mailbox on Thursday. Incredibly fast for shipment from Japan.

Did you get one of the ones with a flex nib? If so, how does it compare with other flex nibs? Edited by Ego Id Veto

A private label with unknown quality track record. Not with my own money, if I am going to be brutally honest. I am not going to get any Wancher pen.

Well, interesting thread, this, for me, since I also bought a Wancher from Engeika (Taizo-san): the pen had an enormous titanium nib and the attractive body done in Maki-e. Unexpectedly, the nib was totally rigid and there was no ink to be got out of it -- I sent it back and Taizo is going to be sending me a Pilot 732 with Falcon nib in its place.

I got the orange one. $22 on ebay. It's the worse pen I bought. I love orange and thought for the money it would be worth the risk. I completely regret it. The plastic looks and feel cheap. It has poor balance - posted or unposted. The nib writes for a bit.....then skips. I have the kaweco ice sport (for the same money) and is a thousand times better. Save your money

Crazyorange, isn't the Kaweco Sport an amazing little pen? Stiff or rigid nibs are not really my "thing"; but whenever I pick up one of my two Sports, they <always> write immediately, immaculately and reliably! One has fine nib, the other a medium -- and the difference between the two is barely discernible; but I don't mind that. Great writing instrument for that money!

(Excuse the hijack, please)
