I've tried to make a decent Blue-Black with some free/cheap inks.

 

So, here's the scans. I used a Pilot 78G stub and the following mix:

 

  • 5pts Pelikan Blue-Black
  • 8 drops PR Sherwood Green
  • 10 drops black

 

1 pt = about 1/4cc

Thanks! Unfortunately, I'm having flow issues and I'm suffering the consequences of mixing types of inks. The ink is running out of the pen uncontrollably. Oh well, I'll have to peruse other mixing techniques!

I've made mixes with different brands---I'll have to watch for that problem (most recent: Noodlers Nav Turquoise, Lamy Turq, and J Herbin Vert Reseda, for a nice deep greenish-blue).

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!
 

My other pen is a Montblanc.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning.
