Illegal Lipstick:

2 Parts Diamine 'Deep Magenta'

1 Part Private Resrve 'Shoreline Gold'

Gives the colour you imagine lipstick to be in Black & White films.

Hi,

Sadly I am away from my ink pots, so cannot provide a sample in the near term.

However, I've added that task to my bottomless To Do list, so the next time I'm on home leave I may well conjure a few samples.

Bye,

Sandy1,

Like everything you do, it should be wonderful.

I'm hopeful for a picture.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I would also love a picture.

In the meantime, I added two sample vials of Deep Magenta and one sample vial of Shoreline Gold to my Goulet Pens shopping cart. I'm thinking of making a mini version myself.

The Deep Magenta is quite pinkish, at least on my monitor. Does Illegal Lipstick come out more pink or red or some other shade that I can't imagine yet?

Oh, yeah, pictures please. (repeated plea since Sandy1 is a genius with mixing)

I will imagine some kind of peachy color.

Magenta has a lot of red. Red+Yellow = Orange. So, I will imagine some kind of peach coming out.

I have both of these inks so I made a mix:

Hi,

Many thanks to Member Lgsoltek for doing what I should have done long ago, and making my To Do List less bottomless. :)

As ever, I contribute to the myth that blondes can be naughty (but nice.)

Nice one! It is quite dusky, no? It looks like it (the photo), on my screen.

I once had a lady wearing that lipstick wink at me.

Well, I normally don't like pink inks, but this one seems to have a hint of purple in it, and I really like the dusky look of it.

Congratulations and thank you both Sandy1 and Lgsoltek.

Hi,

Ditto. :)

I wouldn't have more than 10ml on hand, though others may have litres.

After all, it is a blend based on my imagining of lipstick in Black & White films. And I suppose from there one can exercise their imagination as to who wears Illegal Lipstick. and who wears lip balm.

(Crikey mate - Did I just sign-on for conjuring an ink to be named 'Lip Balm'?)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
