FayeV: Come to pen posse this weekend... pretty please... if you can. I will bring my journals...

I saw the announcement in another thread here. I wish I could go. I'd love love love to see your works of art in person. My weekends are action packed chauffeuring the kiddo to various classes and events. This weekend is her 10th birthday party. Gymnastics class, followed by birthday party, a fun-filled day for her. :) Today is her actual birthday and she was up early and did all her morning things with such alacrity (so she could open some of her presents). If only she could be ready and out the door like this every day. LOL Since it is St. Patrick's Day, she made it a point to bring a greenish colored fountain pen (filled with R&K Smaragdgrun green ink) to school. I didn't even realize I had a green pen, she rummaged through an old box of pens and dug out a Hero 58 pen in green/black that looks like this one:

Awesome drawing and handwriting. Inspire me to start my own journal like yours!

These 2 pens are my FAVORITE!!!! I've been stalking this thread for the last month reading it at work and on my cell phone. I looked up the top one and that is a seriously pricy pen! It is worth it? (ok, ignore that question - I know in other instances it usually is worth it... usually) Do you find better prices at pen shows? I really want one, but it will take me forever to save that much!

These pens are quite expensive. I don't think that you'd save much at a pen show. Your best bet would be to find a used one somewhere. These are rare pens, so they don't come up on the used market. I suggest you start saving, now. I have seen plistumi in action at the LA Pen Show. Her pen budget rivals the Pentagon's budget.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

yeah, I looked them up. I do have a monthly "wool" budget, so I'll have to make it a pen budget for a little while..., or maybe I could sell a few spinning wheels (I knit and spin and all that jazz...)

Just a little update. I will continue to post images. But right now I am taking some time off. Usually the warmer weather months are full of projects that suck up my time and energy. This project is still halfway done. It will be finished. Thanks! :D

An eye for insignificant details is a good sign you will do just fine in medical school...

As a sharp wit and powerful sarcasm is a sign that you already have.

We look forward to seeing these whenever you get to them. We all love your work.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Of course, we will also be cranky and impatient in the meantime....

Whenever you post your little gems will be good for me. Such nice nuggets to enjoy, and when they come unexpectedly I find I enjoy them all the more!

Thanks for sharing.

Some fantastic art in this thread and it keeps me coming back to the forum.

I'm curious about the techniques used for some of the wash areas of colour, particularly of varying densities of colour. I've tried replicating the effect, but I only make a mess. Are you using a brush and water dilution like you would with a watercolour portrait or is there another technique at play? I'm not sure if it's my paper or technique but I'd love to see or hear some recommendations on the process.

Ooh!  Has she turned back up?  I used to LOVE seeing her artwork from that when she posted updates.

I got to meet her a number of years ago when I still went to DCSS (at the old site).  Turned out I was sitting right next to her at the ink testing station!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
