P.S. I LOVE okra... sliced, coated lightly in flour and seasonings, then fried in a thin coating of oil in a pan. Add soy sauce. Mmmmm.

One has to be careful, you never know when there is an Okra hater around.

Having said that, y'all are terrible - I just placed an order for a desk pen... the length makes the slimness work... in my diseased brain anyway.

I guess the decapod twist will have to wait.

Oh! The Desk Pen! Every single person I've encouraged to try it has remarked on its amazing comfort and balance. This is my desert (with Berbers and clay ovens) island pen. The Desk Pen is so... perfect that I had two but could stand to have only one. Trying to decide between which to use proved too great. I know it sounds nutty, but this is the FPN!

Has anyone commissioned a pen from Nakaya with a custom Maki-e (or other finish)?

I ask because I have an old dog who is not well at the moment and I'd love to have her forever grace the barrel of a Nakaya - perhaps with the other dog we inflicted on her when it became clear she was equating age with grumpiness too closely.

And Lady Spencerian, I fear you are missing the point. I do not wonder whether another Nakaya would be better. I know that all Nakayot are beautiful and individual and unique and that I will never be able possess all the qualities that make each so distinct by owning one, ten or even twenty. That is the nature of these hand-made pens which are more perfect, yet more etherial, than any 'writing instrument' (*shudder*) has any right to be. It's an existential kind of sadness :(

Too many pens; too little writing.

Curse FPN. How am I to manage my desires when you guys are talking these pens up so much! While any comments around pots and black kettles are freely acknowledged, this thread seems to be raising the Nakaya-itis to higher levels than ever.

As the great man said 'The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it'.

I fear for my bank balance but it is a nice looking pen!

I have ordered one in heki-tamenuri, stub nib ground from a BB. My Nakaya desk pen is amazing. :cloud9:

I had no idea that Nakaya made such wonderful pens.

Once the new Nakaya arrives which will probably be closer to the end of the year or beginning of the next, there will be no more pens. None, nada, zilch. :o

I must keep my promise and enjoy all my pretties that I already own. And believe me, there are many of them

So far, I have been able to look at pen porn B) and not order anything else. This could be because the last pen club breakfast I went to a couple of months ago. I seemed to have ordered a 500 dollar waffle. It looks like a Paul Rossi pen, and boy is it tasty :roflmho:

I had misunderstood. First, I am sorry to hear of your pup's decline - it is a terrible thing that dog is not designed to live as long as his/her master.

As regards your existential sadness....which I do understand....perhaps it could be remedied by becoming a Nakaya dealer.

Oh, and as an aside, you can add me to the list of those not in love with the shape of the Naka-ai.

And have to part with them?!? Oh, the barbarity! :roflmho:

6 months for a desk pen! I think not... decapod twist is now back in the firing line.

'snother reason to try to make it to S.F. for the show! Or L.A. I guess. Spoiled by their appearance in DC last year, handling two dozen or so pens before settling on my Portable writer. And only bought one! I expected them back this year, but NNNNNooooooooooo.......!:headsmack:

I have a Decapod Twist. It is a great pen and my favorite Nakaya right now. I prefer it over my Neo Standard. My only advice is to get it in a cigar version, not a writer version. A clip would take away from the natural lines of the pen.

I tried that - I had 4 piccolos without clips and I just didn't use them. I have a Kikyo long piccolo writer and that goes everywhere with me and it needs a companion!

Im very much considering buying the nakaya naka-ai. Its just so beautiful, I cant resist the temptation. Does anyone know if its well balanced? I have HS Lava in fine, which means Ill probably need medium soft for this pen. Cant wait to order it.

I'm in the same sinking boat with you Chabaa--my problem is I'm waiting for the arrival of two other Nakayas already. Man, talk about a disease that seeps into every fiber of your being--Nakayaitis is serious!
