I love the way it looks. It's like a cross between a Piccolo and a Neo Standard and a Desk Pen! I will most definitely be placing an order for this one, as soon as I can decide which color to get. I'm torn between aka-tamenuri and heki-tamenuri...

What did you order? Did you get an estimated time of arrival?

The Piccolo is just a tad small for me, though that is the only fault with mine. On the other hand it fits into all my shirt and coat pockets so it gets a lot of use. I was torn between the Piccolo and the Neo and felt the Neo was a bit too large to carry everyday. I really like and want this new model...<shaking out the sofa cushions>...must resist and collect funds! :puddle:

It's a gorgeous model, combining my two favorites: Piccolo and Desk Pen.

Can't order one, though. Still waiting for the Long Piccolo I ordered way back in August....

The Nakaya Shield is strong.

I just ordered ...well a few hours ago, I ordered the clipless in heki-tamenuri with a double broad nib ground to a stub.

I love my desk pen with the double broad, so this time I decided to go the extra mile

Be sure to post a review or at least some pictures, I'm dying to see what this pen looks like clipless in heki-tamenuri!

Ooooohhh! I just ordered my first Nakaya (a Piccolo Writer). This one could be number 2 - one day...

Without doubt an attractive pen but, for me, the piccolo still just wins the beauty parade. However, if I ever get the cash together to buy another Nakaya I'll certainly have another look! Either way, nice to see a new model that is still distinctively Nakaya.

This new one is definitely a humdinger! Don't know how long I can resist! By the way, just how strong is that Nakaya shield??????????????????

:crybaby: Mine is about to fall into smithereens! I am going to get this one this year - the only one to buy, not a difficult task for I have reduced my spending on pens. But waiting and waiting has only produced more desire to buy it and an increase in the price. I don't want it in Piccolo, so maybe this new model....

I already wrote an email to nibs.com.

I was thinking the black and gold (hehe, Saints fan here) but it is too busy and loud!

But then, I like it! :gaah:.... definitely cannot/will not do both!

There are other options than the piccolo in Housoge. Have you perused the Nakaya website? If you scroll down, you'll see that there are various other possibilities; including that of only partial coverage of the barrel and cap in housoge (making it less busy). Such partial coverage should lend itself well to the Naka-ai, thus removing the challenge of tapering the motif to the end of the barrel. Any model on the Nakaya website can be ordered via CFP. Something to think about before you order an 'almost what I want' pen.

For anyone interested: http://www.nibs.com/...i-Main-Page.htm. I have one on order, but it will be a while. Ruud

To my eye, this may be the perfect Nakaya size and shape! Hmmmmmmmm.

With Ethernautrix talking about Nakaya at every Pen Posse, this is most tempting... must resist... at least for a while longer... Does anyone know how long the "preorder" pricing will remain in effect?

Looking on the sites (Nakaya's and nibs.com) it's difficult to see the nuances of all of the various "color" options to be able to choose. Am I just not clicking through enough, or is there any other link that better shows the choices.

If you want to go all out Saints or just NOLA, why not get a black one and have someone like Ernest Shin put in a Fleur de lis in gold maki-e. :)

Oo, Sonia... those are pretty. The red with black one says New Orleans to me more than the Saints colors, maybe because I read too much Anne Rice in my youth. Oo... what about a Desk Pen with only the cap decorated? Hmm... I don't know.

I'm thinking of a tweak on an existing design, monkeys instead of dragonflies, maybe on the Naka-ai size or maybe a different model, don't know. It will breach the $1,000 limit, and I'm still squeamish about doing that.

I'm still waiting for the Long Piccolo, sooooo I bought three non-Nakaya pens this week. So far, the TWSBI Micarta (EF) arrived (yesterday) and the Franklin-Christoph #65 (F) arrived (today -- unexpectedly fast!). If the white Pelikan 205 (M) shows up tomorrow (from the Goulets), I'll be even more beside myself. Yes, there is a chink (or a crack) in the Nakaya Shield, but I guess the secret is spending less than the cost of a Piccolo. Anyway, I thought I would have the Long Piccolo by now and the Nakaya Shield would have been deactivated, and how am I supposed to resist the Micarta and the 65?! (I did resist the Micarta for a good long while. I was waiting only for the 65, based on the F-C Tester pens, to be produced so I could order one, then I forgot, but FP Geeks reminded me, so BOOM! Got one.)

But back to the lovely Naka-ai. My two favorite models in one: Piccolo and Desk Pen. *Long sigh*

Sonia, good luck! They're both pretty. So hard to decide!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
