Is it wrong to root for an ebonite delay so the acrylics get farther ahead? ;)

Maybe, but remember, the best things come to those who wait. ;) - right back atcha...

I really like the look of that acrylic before polishing. I wonder what techniques (if any) could be applied to unpolished acrylic in order to make it an as enduring as possible matte finish.

(Sad that on the first day of production on my set of group buy pens, I am already plotting a custom job.)

How about a block of melamine? Aka Magic eraser, run that just lightly, and the matte surface will be restored. I think there is a medium that pens will eventually patinate/wear to, not quite shiny, but not quite matte either, but either I suppose would be easy to restore, since that the color of the pen body goes all the way through.

The heart has its reasons which reason knows nothing of.

Bravo, Brian.

I am experiencing a great deal of buyer's remorse for not getting both, but I'll take solace in the fact that I am not the only one, and that the cobalt acrylic will still be available for custom pens other than the Pearl.

Looking for an Omas Arco Verde...the one that got away.

Wow, those Cobalt pens are looking really good. Also, the ebonite looks great! I cannot wait to see those start production.

I am (maybe begrudgingly) happy that your ebonite came in, LEE buyers. It looks really nice in rod form, actually. I'm sort of having second thoughts and slightly kicking myself for not getting that one (and then I look at the finished LEA pens and get way over it -- they're gorgeous!).

Brian,

I almost cant believe that this project has come so far. With such an ambiguous start.

The pictures are amazing and strike quite a chord. Thank you for all you have done to bring this LE about, and thanks for the speed with which you are executing it!

Whoever ordered the Cobalt are lucky, it's the most beautiful blue marvel that's ever made in this world. In fact, it looks to be the same material that's used on the Delta Darwin Evolution limited edition pens, whom beauty I could not resist. I paid an arm and a leg for my Delta just to have the blue acrylic. Personally, the ebonite looks a bit dull for my taste, but hey, each to his own

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
