Official Edison Group Buy - Progress Thread

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone.

All should be covered in the video below.....

Highlights...

The final tally is 119 pens. 79 Beige Black Ebonite and 40 Cobalt Fleck Acrylic (give or take a few, we're still doing the final tally with a fine tooth comb).

Materials will be ordered today. Cobalt will probably be here first. If everything goes as planned, we will start on the Cobalt pens next week. Beige/Black ebonite comes from Germany, so sometimes this takes a couple of weeks or more to get to us, hopefully with no customs delays.

We will be posting video and photo updates here within this thread, so there will be no surprises as to when your pens will be ready to ship. Please give us a couple months, but if you are ever wondering what the timeline is like, just come to this thread. We will document the entire process.

So again, here's the Artist's Proofs....

So give us some time....you'll get to watch 119 of these pens being born right here!

The response has been great, thanks to everyone here on FPN for participating :) We're going to do our best to keep everyone updated too, and trust that we'll begin shipping pens as soon as they're good to go. We'll be keeping an eye on this thread for any questions, and you can always email me or Rachel for updates.

Thanks to all again. This is super exciting, and I am really glad the numbers worked out for both the ebonite and the acrylic. To Mr. Gray specifically, take your time. It'll be hard to be patient, but I think we can muster it (maybe?). Also, I do hope this stirs up a good amount of custom work for you.

Now to sit back and watch!

lovely! great!

I think this number is a perfect sign of how well regarded your work is. Congratulations!

On a sidenote: So German ebonite will be shipped overseas and then returned back here to me. Let's see if I can hassle with the duty - because it's just a reimport after some minor (errr, well) adjustment :roflmho:

Greetings,

Michael

So it's an exported import, or an import of an import, or something, eh?

The final tally is 119 pens. 79 Beige Black Ebonite and 40 Cobalt Fleck Acrylic (give or take a few, we're still doing the final tally with a fine tooth comb).

So ... it's not final then. Just mostly final. Got it. :P :D

Looking forward to the progress pics and vids.

Wow, that cobalt is really gorgeous laying there "in the rough"! Cannot wait to see that ebonite in a stack like that.

These are definitely going to be some cherished pens! :cloud9:

Makes me want a blue stick.

+1 on that!

I am so tempted to use paint to draw a circle around a part of that acrylic and type MINE MINE MINE MINE with an arrow pointing to it.

I knew I would wish I had taken the plunge for both when I saw the cobalt! I really dont want every pen I see, just the pretty ones!

Wow! It is so cool to see my pen "in the rough" before it becomes even more beautiful. Just awesome!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
