Official Edison Group Buy - Purchasing Thread

Recommended Posts

Which also means a lot more folks voted but have not purchased yet... :hmm1:

Plus: you have them on your website publicly and told about them in your communiques - so there might be some who are not on FPN, but still want to have one for that price.

IMHO I would not mind it if Mr.Gray were to extend the purchase period beyond the beginning of production

Would be lovely, but: what about ordering materials?! We can't expect that he will buy a lot of spare ebonite rods for some late birds, just in case. Plus: (a very (!) selfish thought) the less buyers, the sooner the finishing, the sooner the shipping :-)

Greetings,

Michael

Hi,

Just a quick purchasing question to the Goulets. I purchased the Cobalt early - first day or two from memory.

I didnt get any confirmation email upon purchase. Is this correct ?

Just want to make sure I dont miss out !

Cheers

Ian

Hi Ian. If your last name starts with "S", you ordered a Cobalt with a Medium and an additional Broad, then yes, we have your order. You can email me or the Goulets if you need additional information.

I really hope some additional cobalt buyers show up so I can have a completely random chance at the LE numbers I really want: 12, 14, or 31. My other favorite number is 99, and I know we're not getting there.

It's going to be fun to see what number I get. Of course, due to my username, I'm hoping for #7, but I know that's pretty much impossible. Whatever it is, I'm sure I'll grow to like it. :)

Need a pen repaired or a nib re-ground? I'd love to help you out.

Hmm, I'd roll with a 3, 5, 12, 14, 18, 25, 26, 30, 42 or a 69  So, that's a 14.3% chance if 70 are sold, I can cope with those odds :)

Well, there are so many threads about this group buy by now, I guess another thread with: "I offer - I want; anyone up for a trade?" will be perfectly alright.

Greetings,

Michael

My guess is that whatever number I get, it may become my next favored number. I'm trying to think of a number I'd really just not be happy with, and they're all pretty cool. It's just that my birthday is 12/14 and Jeff Burton's #31 Caterpillar Chevrolet will probably be the last NASCAR team I ever care about (pretty sick of the sport but have always really liked Burton). Now that I put it that way, 13 would mean Dan Marino and 34 Ricky Williams. I can make any number pretty special if I have an excuse like a Cobalt Pearl with the number on it. :)

A number trade thread would be fun.

I'm all for this. I ordered both pens and emailed Mr. Gray and the Goulets about getting both pens with matching LE numbers. Understandably, Mr. Gray said that was too much extra work for this project. I'm hoping that by random happenstance I'll end up with matching numbers, but if not, I hope some generous soul would be willing to trade with me.

92 pens, very nice!

Ok...since Brian said we cant ask for a specific number.... how about the "AP"??? Just kidding!

Just glad I didn't end up getting both pens. Can't afford that. Though it is tempting.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
