Here are my 2 favourite Montblanc Writer Editions that need no introduction I think. Sorry about the photo quality, I'm lacking in attachment upload space. How do I free more up? If I delete it will the posts in which I've posted pics suddenly disappear?

Fountain pens are like weapons. They just make your pocket bleed so much.

no. 25 pushknob filler in coral red with a very nice ef nib. Manufactured in Denmark between 1935-46. It is inked so you can see some Midnight Blue on the nib.

Signature nib on an Axis Mundi skeleton. I don't think there are others.

Is that a 3B, 4B, 5B? :yikes:

I'd love to see a writing sample of that one.

Hi,

It's not a nib, but a plastic feed. This went through my shop today. You can't really use your Montblanc nib so easily without a good MB feed. The nib is keyed onto the top of the feed, but the nib and feed aren't keyed into the feeder case in the small pens. In the little pens, the nib hallmark is in the grip section over the hole in the top of the feed. You can see that the feed have two main channels, and the air channel starts directly under the nib breather hole and goes through to the underside of the feed. It then goes up the the end of the feed and ends on top of the feed. It's quite an advanced feed, and if you have one of these, I don't think you have to worry too much about taking it on an airplane.

Looks like it was used to draw straight lines using a metal edged ruler.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
