That's a nice pen Mech.

Is it slim?

The body and section looks somewhat Waterman-esque.

OK it might look slim especially against most of todays' styling with their bulged out profile or fat girth but this is not slim by any mean, its a standard size pen. with the cap on its just a straight cylinder , 10.8mm diameter and its length is the same as the 616 standard

Got a jinhao x750 couple day ago but it skip and dry out often. I like the size and weight of the pen and it's quite nice in flat black.

Tried combination of removing breather tube, removing spring, moving the feed, deep cleaning of everything and it still skip and dry out. At least now it's more juicy than it was.

The nib is scratchy (left or right not down or up) too.

The worst part of these pen is the stupidly small converter in a quite large size pen but it seems to be common practice of many manufacturer not just chinese.

I have another x750 coming from xfountainpen with a set of nibs, will try to build one good x750 out of two.

Hi There if you have flushed the pen out with a good detergent and then clean water, try another Convertor it

may well fix the problem.Trust Me, oneill

Oneill, I can't find an article. What exactly should I be typing? and where, google?

Today I'm rocking my Hero 1026, inked with Private Reserve DC Supershow blue.

On Oxford Optik paper, this is my smoothest nibbed pen. (of my finer nibs).

There is virtually no feedback at all, and to be honest, it's an odd feeling when writing.

It feels as though there's nothing happening, yet there is ink on the page.

It's a feeling, when writing, that I'm not too sure about.

It's a far more "normal" feeling when writing on rougher graffico paper, but still very smooth though.

Horses for Courses :D

A most splendid pen.

Wing Sung 3008 with some custom orange ink on a vintage clairefontaine staple bound notebook.

I got this pen in the mail today and I'm impress at how nice the pen feels in the hand. The piston know does not click so I would be worried about carrying it around.

Mech-for-i,

Your Hero is so simple and elegant. I agree with Ian — the design has Waterman elements, but stands on its own.

I do agree with that too, the straight piece of a rod style of a fountain pen is very much early 90's after the 80's slim piece of a wand style , but Hero seems to like this style so much they keep doing this same styling even up to today with plenty of various models .. Its also probably a case that the pen styled this way condone to it being used ( like a brush )

I got a pen haul from China, and I'm working through my test drives of them. Right now, I'm on my favorite of all of them, thus far, the Luoshi 291, in blue, loaded up with Pilot Blue-Black. The 291 is an all-metal pen, nib section included, with good balance and heft, but not too much. It's still a very smooth writer and on the wet side, so it feels like writing with a medium nib.

I'm very happy with this pen and plan to keep it in heavy rotation.

What it looks like:

Apologies for cutting off the top of the cap. I'm no photographer, that's for sure.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
