today: this morning i had the Duke 2000 Dream World. very pretty pen!!

this afternoon i got my Kaigelu 356 -Parker Sonnet look-alike- in the mail. the finish is a mate blue and very well made. the nib came a bit dry, but after some tweaking it puts out a very wet medium line. great piece of writing instrument. i will be using this one tonight and tommorrow.

PS. the top jewel has the lil' kangaroo engraved on it.

I received my first Chinese pen yesterday...Jinhao 159. So far I like it.

Grace and Peace are already yours because God is the Creator of all of life and Jesus Christ the Redeemer of each and every life.

Jinhao X450 filled with R+K Altgoldgrun. Writes like a dream, and the nib is dry enough for the shading to show through.

I'll ask... I could pin it, but that would involve treading on some toes & I have no plans to do so.

My pens today are a Red TWSBI and a Jinhao 5000 where I'm still trying to use up its fill of BSB.

Regards,

Richard.

Pretty pen, will need to look for one of those.

Using my Hero 3022, trying to use up the Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black, want to fill it with a small batch of Diamine Sunset that I darkened with a few drops of black.

The boss at home has just spent all her pocket money & then some on Kaigelu's. She got a parcel of 15, and I've got to keep my paws off. It's so frustrating...

However, she didn't get a 356 in the set. I don't think she likes my Sonnet, so didn't get any of the 356 for herself. She got all 3 colours of the 360, 363, and I think some in the 350 series. The 360's are tiny, make the slim 306 she got me seem very large. There were others, but I forget their numbers now. Made me green with envy anyway.

The pens I have with me are the same as yesterday (need consistent colours this week at work) - a TWSBI and a Jinhao 5000.

Regards,

Richard.

Today it's the Baoer 519, which wants to be a Faber-Castell when it grows up. It's become one of my go-to's: nice weight and balance, good combination of smoothness and feedback, and feels in no way like a $7 pen. It likes Diamine Damson very much.

Just for reference the hero 616 is very scratchy

yet that is expected for a cheap look-a-like (of a Parker '51')

I'm using this Wing Sung 500 ( Parker 75 copy) navy blue, filled with Diamine Midnight,

Looks rather plain and dull comared to what the rest of you are using. It writes quite dry - too dry. Can sometimes take a bit of coaxing to work if I haven't used it for a few days - probably just wants a bit of tweaking. It actually stopped working all together for a while, but after several flushes it seems to be going again now.Nice extra fine nib, writes smoothly (once started).

On the me n' u today is a Kaigelu 316 with Diamine China Blue. Interesting ink, but the quest for *that* blue goes on...

Received a couple of pens yesterday, one of them by mistake. :roflmho:

First off, a Guanleming 2001 hooded demontrator with aerometric fill.

The second is a Guanleming Chinese Caligraphy pen that I did not order. The vendor is making it right by sending me the pen I did order and letting me keep this one. I think he has done his part as far as customer service is concerned.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
