Fpn Pens About To Be Shipped!

Thanks, Wim. I sent a follow-up email, although I haven't had any actual response to the one your sent on my behalf yesterday.

I don't mind that the pen is delayed. It's nearby and will get here eventually. What I don't like is being lied to about it by the courier. Heck, I'd go pick it up, but apparently they're taking it out for rides every day.

Hate to be pessimistic but in my neck of the woods DHL is not known for stellar performance. I know of a few cats and quite possibly a goldfish who signed for parcels. The courier probably left it on a doorstep and signed the doomaflajy him or herself.

Oops! I posted the end of the story in one of the Passaporto threads. Wim leaned on them and ratted them out to Stipula. I leaned on them. Two days after the first supposed delivery attempt, it appeared in our USPS mailbox. As best as we can guess, the whole kerfuffle has to do with the fact that DSL still hands off to USPS in this part of the world. If they'd say so, I'd be okay with that. However, I got three different stories from DSL, none of which were true.

Anyway, it's here, it's cute, I've adjusted the tines to my preferred level of wetness with some kind guidance from watch_art and it's all good.

I came here for the pictures and stayed for the conversation.

I'm glad I use my work address. No mailbox. Only hands.

[start Whiny Voice] Still no word on my Modello T. Wah. [End Whiny Voice]

My real grief is that I used the work address as well. Unfortunately the office will be closed from the evening of the 23rd until the 2nd of January. If the Stipula/DHL partnership doesn't get things sorted out in a relatively timely fashion, I'm going to have a real adventure chasing them down and getting delivery addresses changed (or scheduling a hold for pick up).

Ain't great, but it's the best I've got. So far.

I can't wait to try that T-Flex.

Heartfelt thanks for all of your work in coordinating this project.

What does this mean?

Phone calls last just minutes, emails get deleted, but letters live forever.

What does this mean?

Simone asked for a specific number, which wasn't available, because there were too few pens of that particular model, so she picked a different number from the available ones.

Any idea at this point when the Etrurias will ship? Thanks for your time in responding to my inquiry.

I received an e-mail two days ago saying my Etruria had shipped. That said, however, when I try to track it using the tracking number provided in the message, I get a "No result found for your DHL query. Please try again." -- so I don't really know if it's on the way or not...

I'll check this with Etruria on Tuesday. According to the shipping information received, your pen has been shipped, i.e., collected by DHL in Florence, two days ago indeed.

All Etrurias have started shipping, Azurites only two days ago, and celluloid ones in addition on yesterday.

I just checked yours, and it is not in the QC queue yet, however (but neither is mine, if that is any consolation).

The moment it has been shipped and we receive an update with tracking number, you will receive an email with that information.

Wim ... are pens shipped by the date they were ordered or some other way? Waiting is sooo hard! LOL

The only logic I can see, well more or less, is an order of pen models, i.e., Passaportos, Modello-Ts, Etruria Azurites, and Celluloid Etrurias, and superimposed on that it is Europe first, followed it seems by Canada and Middle East, and then the USA and other destinations.

And it appears to be in sort order of country, followed more or less by ordering sequence. However, occasionally the sequence order of shipping seems a little haphazard, and I honestly wouldn't know why.

BTW, initially there was a hold-up with regard to materials ordered not arriving in time, even though they were ordered in time with the suppliers, and there were also some problems with getting the Modello-Ts to spec, apparently because the material used, the azurite resin, isn't all that easy to shape.

Currently all models are being shipped.... So it is just a matter of the last little bit of waiting :D.

Thank you, Wim. I'll just have to sit tight and wait it out. My mail man gives me an uneasy look when he comes to the door. LOL I'd tell him I was waiting for a special pen, but he'd not understand.

Thanks, Wim, but no need to spend more time on it unless it ends up delayed or there's a problem - you've done enough and have plenty going on!! And I don't need to be checking the tracking every 10 minutes. :)

Thanks, Wim. I think you deserve a special medal for all the attention you've devoted to this project and for the almost immediate responses you've given to those of us who've had questions. Now I'm happy to be looking toward starting the New Year with such a beautiful New Etruria! Again, my sincere thanks for all your great work.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
