This is actually a positive sign. We have believed that he was out of business, but seeing a page called "a new beginning" linked suggests to me along with the site being back up that the business is in serious transition and may be back in some form.

Is the title of the page nearly 4 years old? I see the copyright date, but to me the naming of that page and the fact the domain is back up is a hopeful sign that there may be something new going on.

Yup.

The site has shown the listing for me for several weeks. It is the result of the loss of their homepage and inventory directories.

I was wondering if he was going out of business. He didn't make the Miami Pen Show this year.

If all this is true, I/we feel sad. We met Chuck for the first time at the D.C. Show three years ago. He sold me one of my first and consistently delightful pens, Pelikan Polar Lights. Jim Rouse sold me my first, a Sheaffer Targa Tulle 679. These two gentlemen both contributed markedly to my/our enjoyment of the Pen Shows, as we enjoyed them each time they could be present in both D.C. and Philly. Chuck sold me my Visconti Homo Sapiens and Rembrandt Eco-Roller, both great pens; also, two Lamy All Stars. He always threw in a little something "extra" to sweeten the deal. He helped us obtain many inks, bringing them to the shows for us. Perhaps the fun of joshing with Chuck and coming up with great deals has been part of the fun. His WebSite has been a nice place to visit and we have enjoyed his philosophical comments and tributes to our Veterans on the site. We worried he might be pulling back & moving in the direction of altering the business in some way and only hoped it would not be the end; when he started selling his personal collection, we worried more. In the event that Chuck and family happen to still read our Forum, we would just like him to know how much we have enjoyed who he is and his wonderful service in the promotion of writing instruments and inks over these past years. we wish him whatever he needs for this time in his life and it has been a pleasure. we will remember him fondly as we continue to enjoy our pens. I was doing some spring cleaning of my Bookmarks on Mozilla Firefox when I saw an old saved link to the Swisher Pens website. I already knew that they're no longer available but when I clicked on it, presuming this will be the last time before I delete the link, I was pleasantly surprised to see the Swisher Pens home page pop up right in front of me :). But only the home page - you still can't shop there yet...

Looks like a work in progress. Are Swishers about to be revived?

As a customer, I wrote Swisher some time ago and received this reply from a family member, I believe his daughter, on November 28, 2012:

"I’m sorry but Swisher Pens is no longer in business. We were forced to close our doors due to the weak economy."

All the best,

I sure miss them.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
