Hey all, it's that time of year again when we call for nominations for the Goldspot Reader's Choice 2011 Pen of the Year. We need nominees from you, the pen-loving public, for your favorite choice of pen that was released in 2011. That could also include new finishes or colors of a pen model that has been around longer than the last year.

We'll sort through your comments to compile a list of nominees to vote on starting Tuesday, November 8th (Election Day). Voting will last one week and will conclude with the official crowning of this year's winner. The Poll & Results will be posted here and on our Goldspot Pens Blog. So, please give us your suggestions and remember, it's all in good fun!

Past winners include:

I think it might be useful to have a list of all pens that came out in 2011.

I know which pens I bought in 2011, but do not know if they came out in 2011 or before.

Let's hope the FPN pens from Stipula arrive in time to be nominated.

IMHO, the most interesting pen I have seen released this year would be the Bexley Corona, though the Gate City Dunn Filler could be a late contender....

Didn't Pelikan Blue O' Blue come out this year as well?

Blue O' Blue was a really late edition last year. I had to look it up and found an e-mail from Pelikan that dates Dec 28th announcing the pen was available. It would count for this year since we voted on the 2010 pen of the year in November of last year.

Noodler's Ahab.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

Edison Nouveau Premiere in Pearlized Purple. Also the Edison Collier. The new Visconti Van Gogh series.

Edison Nouveau Premiere in Pearlized Purple. Gorgeous pen, in terms of looks and quality.

Bexley Corona for me. The Blue O Blue is a nice pen I have one but it still is a M800. Where the Corona was a new model not just a new color.

Parker Ingenuity ? Just kidding ;)

In my opinion, the Pétrarque, but by default, because nothing really interesting was released this year.

This pen awards thing needs to be handled like the AA...Academy Awards....not like a substance abuse rehab. gp. meeting. The AWARD needs a title, too....The" Ink-um Dink-um Award"....or something ( homage to those down under....lol)....huh? Pen of the yr. is boring and over-used by the industry, already. It gets confusing. I think we can dispense with the just a joke ...things......can't we? These pen co.s r serious...and, to them,...an award of this magnitude, portends big biz...si o no? Nominees should come from the ranks... anyone can submit a pic for the pen....However, there should only be 5 nominates...is this a word?.... for final voting....at the end. With the general voting reset...>btw..., the final five should be based on the number of votes by the network's contributors...each person ...only one vote.... with numbered ballot template on-line...... anonymity is assured. Like> go to....blankety-blank? to cast your vote...4? Take the Westminster Dog thingy. I think we should have "categories". Best color, best lac on metal, short pen, oversized, best hardware/furniture, best kiddie pen, best female issue & male....lol...says my gf....then> Pen of the yr. Best of the Best....aye?.... or something like that.Best box, and notes can be like the technical awards that never get tube time....LOL. Or....not.... then best of the yr......perhaps by every month...as the yr. goes on, with twelve finalists,.... this might work best? It would be a fun thread...anywho. You also need a chair with no vested interest in any particular company...not like some of ...you know who u r folks.... that pump juice, it seems, into a certain manufacture's sale of a pen line. The chair cannot be a manuf. either. I submit that the pens need to be a new issue during the calendar yr., too. Not... the slack way, apu,...it's happening now. We need a modicum of objectivity here....if there is such a thing....lol. I know there is a fun way to do this...just needs a reasonable format. I think it might generate enough new interest...to actually get new folks... to join in using these things. Can we also do ink of the yr.? Wouldn't that be fun...?
