Sf Pen Show Report

Am I the only one to have brought home the traditional Pen Show souvenir?...

a nasty head cold. Ugh, I thought I was washing my hands often enough, I guess not.

BUT it is worth it to have been to a Northern California Pen Show!!!

AND, I got to work with the enchanting Miss Stephanie and the lovely Lady Estela again.

I wish I had pictures of Kernan and Lisa in the kilt, "who wore it better?"

...

Thank you all for supporting the Monster

Ergh, I hope you've gotten better by now.

Who are these people? And they were two kilts, one each. Only one was wearing jeans underneath, and crossdressing.

Ricky, do you think if I wrote M. Burke I could get information on this pen? I spent last night looking around at various Conway Stewart info, and couldn't find it anywhere. It has *really* piqued my curiosity! Any other info or sources I should look to?

Cheers,

Jon

Many of the CS pens in the show photos are new models that have not been released or announced. Mary can give you info although I don't think she has any pricing info yet since they are determining those right now.

Hi Posse,

Sorry have been out of the loop. Left the SF show, went home for a day and started a road trip to South Carolina, 2500 miles down. Will be in B) B) SC tomorrow, staying until it is time to go to Columbus for the Ohio Pen Show.

Meat chips, rare dip pens, and walking cane/pen stanhopes will have to wait till I return to CA in mid November.

Lisa and Ricky are you still asking where all the weird pen stuff comes from??? (hint: I have a magic garage), story for later.

Pen report: half of the antique stores between SF and Oklahoma City that I used to shop are closed, saw only 2 Sheaffers and passed on both.

Southern flea markets are waiting B)

Here is the only photo I took ALL WEEKEND.

This was post-show opening-day Pen Posse, after dinner at the Korean BBQ place (which was really good, even though a couple of marauders from the other table *coughRickycough* raided and pillaged our table of its... Korean tapas (I don't know the name for those little dishes of deliciousness)). (I know. We said we didn't mind, but we laughed at your pirate maneuver!)

...

I nursed the Laphroaig back to health, though, heck yeah!

Wait a minute... I was at Friday night's Korean BBQ dinner and I sure didn't see any Laphroaig -- now THAT I would never miss.

Glenn (love those pen posses)

You were supposed to go to room 170 and wait while we did the Bev Mo run. When we came back, we lost a bunch of people.

It wouldn't be Pen Posse if we were that organized.

Why, if we were more organized we would have bylaws and stuff.

YES!

And Jonella told me the other day that she's bought a Desk Pen, aka-tamenuri! She said that she's been waving it like a wand, which, come on... ROCK ON!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
