List Of Sailor Le Ink Codes

Recommended Posts

As a big fan of Sailor Jentle inks, I wished to re-buy one of my favourites but realised as I searched the web and fire off eMails to sellers that I had no idea which ink it was.

After much frustration, I realised that each LE ink has a unique serial-number on the back in the format xx-xxxx-xxx denoting the name.

So, I thought: as there are quite a few here who speak Japanese (and collect Sailor inks), could we crate a database of each LE's code number, with names and colour samples for those of us not quite as blessed in the languages of the far east?

I think it would be a valuable sticky at the top of the Inky Thoughts forum...

Too many pens; too little writing.

HTH,

Martin

Wow - thanks Martin!

(It was actually Anna who identified my ink  - Yama Dori - and also that you didn't have any left :gaah: )

Any people want to add swatches to the codes?

Too many pens; too little writing.

Shigure...13-1002-201.... a dark purple... & Tokiwa-matsu...13-1002-204... a sort of khaki green...I've only had these 2 in pens with fine nibs. The colors might express themselves differently with a nib change.....broader, I mean. I use Claire paper almost exclusively now.No affiliations.

If you want it badly enough, PenGallery in Malaysia (www.pengallery.com) lists Yama-Dori as being in stock. I've ordered inks from them a couple of times and have been very satisifed with their service (no affiliation, etc.)

Whew, I'm glad you are only listing the Sailor standard (new & old) & the 2010-11 four seasonal colors. I won't bring up the Sailor Hougado, Kobe, & Bungbox lists.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
