Any Dealings From Engeikas Website?

Just received my Platinum 3776 Bourgoyne I ordered from their site. Took about a week from order to receipt. I was able to track the shipment from Japan to my post office. Arrived in the original box and included a converter. Pen writes wonderfully and I will be ordering from Engeika again soon.

After much research and deliberation, I finally placed an order from Engeika for: 1.) Sailor 1911 Profit Demonstrator with music nib, and 2.) Sailor Professional Gear Imperial Matte Black with fude nib (special order). That was three days ago, and normally I would be biting my nails at the lack of response, but after reading through this thread, I'm trying to be patient.

 

Okay I was waiting for my order to arrive before chiming in here. Here's my timeline ordering a Pilot Custom Heritage 912 with a PO nib directly from the Engeika website:

 

I have a Pilot Custom Heritage 912 with a Falcon nib that I love! I saw that the PO (posting) nib was an option, but I have not been able to figure out what it is. I see that it is described on Engeika as "the nib has turned downward. You can write a harder, very thin character," but I don't understand what that means. Is the nib finer than, say, an XF? Please describe the nib as you have found it to be, and if possible, show a typical writing sample. Thank you.

I'm delighted you mention two points that I'll happily address, though I'll try to be succinct as possible.

1. Coincidentally, I ordered a Platinum Maestro UEF from Engeika on 28 December 2014.

Both of us will be waiting quite a while for our pens because New Year is, correct me if I'm wrong, a very big holiday in Japan. Therefore, I'll expect about a 2 week delay on it, which is understandable. It's the holiday season.

2. I love talking about my PO nib, or any fine nib for that matter!

If you've ever tried a Pilot Penmanship, you've basically experienced what a PO nib will provide, a very thin line.

However, the PO gives just the slightest bit of more control and precision with fine lines. For a stock nib, I am blown away from how amazingly it writes. It does not catch onto the page when writing, and I really wish I had something bad to say about it. I do not.

To answer your question, the PO nib is conditionally a tiny step down from XF. I wouldn't really say Ultra XF because finer lines are indeed possible.

As for the deformities in the letters, I wrote this on a wooden table, and all those blobs you see were tiny pits in the table. Operator error! .

Hopefully this sample helped. I love doing writing samples with the PO nib.... It is so amazing.

 

Also, the nib is curved downward so you're naturally writing with the very tip of the nib. At a glance, it's a little scary because it looks like it's broken, but it has a glorious flare to it . It really has quite a learning "curve" (pun intended) to use, but is bliss once you get around it.

As for my favorite. I cannot choose between the Penmanship and the PO. The Penmanship is that good.

Kuhataparunks, thank you for the writing samples. Wow, that is a beautiful fine point! I tend to prefer a broader point for everyday writing as well as sketching, but I'm glad I finally understand what a PO nib is and what it can do. What nib did you use to write the heading "PO nib writing sample" with? That's a very nice writing stroke, too (similar to what I get with my Platinum music nib).

I'll eagerly await news of your receiving your Platinum Maestro UEF! The 1911 Profit Demonstrator with music nib that I ordered sounded like a standard option on Engeika's website, so hopefully I won't have to wait too long for it. But there was also some text in there that implied that it needed to be special-ordered. Sometimes the info on the site is unclear, so I might not know for sure until I receive confirmation. I've read a lot about Engeika here in the forum, and most people seem happy with its service, so I'm going to trust that it will come through. It's always a bit nerve-wracking the first time I order from a place I'm not familiar with, especially for a high-ticket item. Will report back eventually!

There's nothing too much about which to worry; it's a legitimate business, so they are obligated to fulfill the order. Just allow a tiny bit more time since it's the new year. The site is unclear because it's in a completely different language. 別の言語でウェブサイトを構築想像する。

They have to translate everything on their site and how they speak with customers. Yikes, it's quite a challenge haha

The top stroke, I meant to say what it was, but it's a Pilot Plumix. My normal writing style is where I wrote "penmanship," so something as broad as this is not well suited for me. I hope I like the UEF as well, and a Profit demonstrator sounds very nice, especially in a clear finish. Hopefully you'll get it very soon

Just wanted to follow up that I received my order from Engeika today -- securely packaged, all looks fine. Here is the timeline I experienced:

 

12/28/14 Order submitted on website.

1/6/15 After sitting on my hands for more than week, I sent an e-mail inquiring on the status.

1/8 Shipping confirmation received; tracking info revealed that my package was already in San Francisco, CA.

1/9 Order received in Seattle, WA.

 

I have not yet inked up the pen, but assuming that it's fine, I will definitely order from Engeika again. It's a different process from what I'm used to, where most vendors send a confirmation every step of the way and often ship by the day after an order is placed. But now that I understand that, I'm fine with it.

 

By the way, the pen I received in this order was the regular stock Sailor 1911 Profit Standard with music nib. The disappointing part is that the pen I really want -- Imperial Black with custom fude nib -- is apparently no longer available from Sailor. I'm having ongoing communication with Taizo now to see which models I can get with a fude nib. But at least now that I've experienced a regular order that went well, I feel more confident eventually placing a custom order that is probably going to take months to deliver.
