Does this mean that my Diamond 530 is a Limited Edition???? :eureka:

:roflmho: You're one of those "my glass is half-full!" kinda guys, aren't you?

i just have to say, the glass is full. if we're talking about an 8fl. oz glass, it contains 4fl. oz of what ever liquid is in it. and 4fl. oz of air. an empty glass requires a vacuum, now then Speedy, when are we going to have vacuums? :roflmho:

You, sir or ma'am, have won the thread :D

For your first pen, you should buy a Pelikan m200 or a TWSBI 540.

For vintage, get a Parker Vacumatic or a 51.

Once you go Vac, you never go back.

Yes, I've been drinking.

Nah, there's empty space between atoms (see Rutherford gold foil experiment). In any case it's basically product evolution.

one of the main issue was lacquering of the PC barrels.

I was just rereading Speedy's update (*again* - I've got it bad...), and I just realized something. These are made of polycarbonate, right? (Do I understand correctly that that's what PC stands for?) Well, so is the Platinum Preppy - you know, the pen that Nathan includes free with some Noodlers inks because it doesn't react with ink as much as other materials? (Do I have that right?)

So.... Maybe I can use my new favorite ink (Noodler's Kung te-Cheng), or any of those other very cool "use in this pen only" Noodler's inks in a Diamond... :eureka:

Hmmm.... I think I'll try it with a cyan 530 I have. :hmm1:

I have used all the "pen-melting" Noodler's inks in my TWSBI with good results; no staining, melting, or baby eating at all. They might stain some of the silicone grease and leave a colored residue, but it cleans out easily.

No.

It means that they do not have the capability of meeting the demand for their pens, which surprises me as they are not aimed at the lowest tier of pens and yet there are pens in the range they aim at from a lot of reputable manufacturers.

I wish they were cheaper as I am intrieged to know what the TWSBI hype is. They look cheap, they are not cheap, yet everyone who has one loves them. I can't justify the price though to satisfy my curiousity.

£38.49 shipped in Britain? That's about $62 US, the problem is The Writing Desk only has pink ones! :headsmack:

Good grief! that's only 1/10 the price of a 149! (give or take) at any rate, they write like most other pens with Schmidt nibs, which is to say, fabulous for the price! My 530 (s) cost less each than my Online Vision did (OK, I paid to much, but I gotta help out a local store once in a while!) As far as them meeting demands, they have been out for some time and only now are getting scarce. They still can be had online, granted they cost a bit more at Amazon, then they did on E-bay....

OK, Never mind it's not a MB Don't buy one, that's one more for someone else to have!

The question I still have is this:

Will the new nib/feed sets be interchangeable between pens? Will I be able to use a nib set for a 540 or 700 or Mini-Diamond with my existing 530s? Will a 700 nib set work with a 540 or Mini? etc.

I think interchangeability of nibs would be a great added value to the new pens, nib sets, and the 530s that I already own. I suspect that others here may have the same question; if we could get an answer from Speedy, that would be awesome. Thanks.

530/540 share the same size nib, but will have Schmidt version of early day and Bock version of later day, you can switch the whole unit between pens, but between these two version cannot just switch the nibs, must be the whole set.

V700 is larger size nib and mini is small size nib, so they are not interchangeable with 540.

wait, mini may share same Bock set 530/540 feeder and feeder housing?? I need to check.

Hi there,

V700 is larger size nib? What would be then? #6?

What's the target price range for this model?

Thanks

Speedy! Thanks so much for this wonderful update!

It makes such a difference to hear from you every month or two. We understand delays, and your high quality standards as the reason for the delays is really impressive. I'm sorry for your lost product due to defects. Everything looks fabulous you just discussed. I have three 530's, and will get more of all your new items.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

Thank you thank you, THANK YOU for the delay. I don't think I could resist buying the 540 as soon as it comes out, and I've already blown my budget for the whole year. I'm relying on good Uni results so I can "reward" myself with a new pen. The delay means I'll get my results first.

Still...can't wait for the new 540...and the mini...and the 700...oh my money, I see it disappearing already... :headsmack:

Let's see ... if I don't buy any Kindle books and I save my allowance ... hmmmm, maybe I will be able to get two 540s. Green and ... ????

Montblanc Blue-Black please; shaken, not stirred.

Looking forward to buying (at least) one of the small postable 540s :)

WB Speedy!

Wait, the 540 is going to be postable??? That's my only complaint about the 530; I'd be keeping it rather than waiting to hit my 30 posts to list it on the classifieds if only the 530 would post.

a larger nib on Vac? Does that mean the whole pen is a bit larger also? Maybe it has similar dimension as Pilot 823?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
